"Alison. Alison, wake up," Braxton said, nudging me with his elbow.
"I wasn't asleep, Brax," I said slightly pouting.
"You were practically out for twenty minutes," Braxton said, rolling his eyes and chucking.
"I was not," I said groggily.
"Yes, you were," he said, laughing again. "Now, what do you want, we're stopping at Burger King."
"Chicken tenders with a Mountain Dew, please," I said with my eyes halfway closed.
My dad placed the order and then rolled up the window, since the CR-V's air conditioner didn't work properly anymore. Five minutes of waiting and the man gave my father the food.
He handed two bags to my mum and two to Braxton. My dad passed the drinks around, handing me my Mountain Dew. Braxton handed me a bag, which contained my chicken tenders, french fries and my barbeque sauce. As I dug into my bag my dad drove off and got onto the interstate.
I gulped down my food, it was as if I hadn't had food for weeks. I finished before Braxton did, which is definitely surprising. I took several gulps of Mountain Dew before finally relaxing. I hiccuped several times after due to eating too fast.
All was quiet, except for the classical music playing softly, at least until Braxton belched out loudly. "Excuse me," he said obnoxiously.
I rolled my eyes. "Mhm."
He grinned and lightly punched me in the arm."Lighten up Lis," he said, laughing.
"You are so gross," I said, laughing along with him. "You should always say 'excuse me,'" I say.
"I should, but I won't," he says as he puts in his earbuds.
A couple minutes passed with total silence. Braxton teased me by lip singing and making ridiculous movements, causing me to laugh as well. After four minutes of taunting me Braxton finally handed me the left earbud. I put the earbud in my ear and practically went deaf. The music blared loudly, but I didn't mind too much, after all the song had just changed to Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie which is one of the few exceptions I make to my no slow song rule, though all classical music it's excepted.
It was if we could read each other's minds because at the same time we looked at each other and sang the last verses of the song.
Apparently Braxton's IPhone was on shuffle because the next song played was I miss you by Blink-182. I wanted to scream and cry, there was a reason why I didn't listen to this song or any other songs about missing another, it was because I could relate easily. I missed him, more than anyone and anything. I wouldn't cry, I shouldn't be moping about him anymore. I was on the way to a mental institution because of him. It was because of him that I was like this, he ruined me. This was all his fault.
I cuddled up against Braxton's arm, placing my head on his shoulder. I fought the urge to cry, squeezing my eyes shut.
Braxton rubbed the lower part of my back, he turned his head and kissed my forehead. "I love you," he murmured.
"I love you too," I whispered, cuddling him.
He smiled slightly, knowing that I only meant it in a friendly way. He knew my heart still belonged to Harry.
