Dear future Soulmate

I wrote the first three words before a series of squeals rushed out of my mouth. In my world full of curses and monsters, I'm a sorcerer who protects the average human with my curse energy. But for us, sorcerers also get a soulmate, the person that is fated to be our one and only. No one really knows why we get soulmates; there are only rumours. But I believe we get soulmates because we sacrifice so much, so the universe gives us a gift. A soulmate.

However, you have to go looking for them with the help of our marks. My mark is an image of a moon on the left of my arm.

"I can't wait!" I shouted out in happiness as I stood up and moved around my room as if I was in a fairy tale. I've always dreamed of my soulmate, how he would look from his personality. I just know he'll be handsome that all the other girls will be jealous of me. A dreamy sigh escapes me, his personality will cause butterflies to explode in me. I let out another sigh as I hold the piece of paper tightly to my chest before falling on my bed.

"He'll be perfect, a gentleman. My soulmate will only want me, and he will never hurt me. He will love me always from the first moment we make contact." Another sigh escapes me as I imagine our first encounter.

Another hint that we get is that when you touch your soulmate, you will feel a spark.

I'll trip and fall down one day when I'm out shopping, and he'll step out from the crowd, like a prince. The man will gently grab onto my hand and lift me up from the floor. His hand will be warm. We both will feel the intense spark, and a smile will appear on both of our faces.

He'll lean in close and whisper into my ear, "I've finally found you."

Another squeal escapes from me; I've never been with a man before. No first kiss. Not even touched a man. I want my first experience to all to be with my soulmate, and I hope he feels the same way. It will be an amazing connection that way.

"Oi (Y/N)! Get up!" I heard Rio shout from outside my room, "we need to go to Tokyo!" Immediately, I jumped out of bed and slammed the door open. "I'm ready!" I announced with a bright smile. Rio, my friend at the Kyoto Prefectural Jujutsu High School looked at me with tired eyes. We are both training to be sorcerers.

She rolled her eyes at me before we both began walking down the hallways, "why are you so excited in the morning? We are just going to another school", she stated in boredom as I chased after her. "This could be the day that I meet my soulmate, Rio!" Once again, she rolled her eyes, "whatever." Rio leads the way to the train station, where we both sat in silence as Rio laid her head on my shoulder, sleeping away. I was too jumpy to close my eyes. We are going to a different city! How could I rest when my soulmate could be there waiting for me? The smile on my face wouldn't stop as I touched the arm where my mark was placed.

Eventually, we arrived in Tokyo, and I immediately began dragging Rio around to all the landmarks. "What if we met at the tower? That will be so romantic" I let out a dreamy sigh as Rio let out a bored and tired sigh. "Don't get your hopes up; the disappointment will hurt harder", she mumbled, but I chose to ignore it. I was happy and didn't want anything to bring me down. Let me dream of my future soulmate.

"Why do we have to do this?" she complained as both of us walked side by side on the streets. "Well, we had some time to spare before heading to the school, and this is fun!" I smiled at her as she chewed the bubblegum that I brought for her. "Do it with someone else", she whines as she picks out a cafe to eat as I follow behind her like a puppy.

We sat down at a table and scanned the menu, looking for something to eat when a scene caught the attention of both of us. On the opposite side of the shop sat a boy with white hair and two girls on either side of him. My heart felt like it had dropped watching them interact, but I ignored it, focusing back on the menu. "Let's hope your soulmate ain't a player like that guy", Rio stated as she pointed towards them.

"Can't a guy and a girl just be frie-" I paused my sentence, not even wanting to finish it as I watch the girls grab onto the guy's arms. I felt a sting at my mark and didn't know why it would hurt. Then the girls leaned in, kissing the boy on the cheek.

"Yeah, they are totally friends," Rio said sarcastically said as her eyes went back to the menu. "Maybe it's just a greeting," I said, hoping for some reason. Why did it bother me so much? I didn't even know them. "(Y/N), we're not in Europe," she says, destroying the options I had brought to the table.

"If it bothers you that much, just don't look at them," Rio says, however, I couldn't look away. More importantly, I couldn't get my eyes to move away from the guy. Sure he was handsome but there was something else about him. Yes, I was attracted to him but I've been attracted to other people before, however, not like this. He wore black sunglass indoors. What kinda person would do that?

The guy stood up and headed to the bathroom, leaving the two girls to fight over the boy who had left them alone. Guess they didn't like each other. "I won't hate to have a soulmate like that", I state as my eyes move back to the menu, still unable to pick my food.

"Like what, a fuckboy" she lifted her eyebrow at me as I nodded my head. With my head down to the menu, I didn't notice the boy return. "Should we order?" Rio asked as I nodded my head, and that's when I saw the boy return to his table; however, he didn't sit down. Instead, he said something to the girl's causing them to leave the cafe with quite an upset expression. Disappointment maybe?

I wonder what he said. Why do I even care? I shake my head as I then see the boy smile at me as he moves towards our table. "Um Rio, he's walking over" just as I said that, she immediately turns to see him. Slamming my head down on the table, embarrassed. "You weren't supposed to look!" I whispered to her as she says sorry.

"Hello ladies, can I buy you lunch?" he questioned with a charming smirk. I just know he uses that line with all the girls, and I wouldn't have that. Just as I was about to decline, Rio speaks first. "Yes, please," she says. Did she fall for his trap? I stare at her in shock as she shrugs her shoulders.

"I never say no to free food", she states seriously as the boy sits down next to me. I let out a huff as we order the food and drinks, "I'm Rio." My friend is quick to introduce herself to the person who is treating us to food. This is the happiest I've seen her all day. I wouldn't be surprised if her soulmate was amazing at cooking. She would just eat all day.

"I'm Gojo," he says before shaking Rio's hands. Gojo takes off his glasses and turns to me with those beautiful blue eyes. No wonder the girls easily fall for him. His eyes alone could make any girl fall in love.

Not me, though.

"I'm (Y/N)", I say as he lets out a flirtatious smile, "that's a beautiful name." Gojo holds out his hand to shake, and I take it. Immediately I felt the intense spark. "No" I whisper as I jump away from him and onto the floor; this can't be happening.

He wasn't supposed to be my soulmate.
