Crack... The door fell to the floor with a loud thud, dust flying all around the darkened, moonlit room. "Clear!" Derek shouted, motioning for the rest of the team to follow. They went room to room, clearing as they entered. He kicked down the door to one of the locked bedrooms, with the unsub and a baby in the floor in the corner, who wasn't much older than a few hours at the most.

"Hey!" Derek screamed, aiming his gun at the shadowed male figure. "Turn around, now!" He ever so slowly made his way towards the figure, who was standing at a small table, stained with a dark, dried liquid. Blood. The same substance formed a drag line until it stopped at the wall, under a newly deceased woman. Derek's heart dropped as he cocked his gun and got closer. "I said, turn around!" The figure sighed and dropped the dripping metal object in his hand with an echoing cling. He turned around and faced Morgan "Didn't your mother ever tell you it is not polite to interrupt someone?" Derek clenched his jaw and was about to lunge forward when Emily and Hotch stormed in, taking the male into custody. "Carter Vallant, you're under arrest for the murders of Holly and Carson Lane, Amelia and Kaylee Burdette, Grace and Kali Manning, Lexie and Marie Phisher, and Olivia Smith" Aaron cuffed him, and he and Prentiss walked him out. Spencer entered the room next, gun cocked and ready, checking for any other victims, before lowering the weapon and nodding, giving Morgan the all clear.

Derek slowly walked over towards the wailing infant. "Shhhh....its ok. You're gonna be ok...you're safe now...he ain't gonna hurt you...I'm here" he picked up the blanket bound new infant girl and rocked her, bouncing the child lightly. She slowly stopped her screaming and crying, soon cooing and calming softly in Dereks arms, attempting to take his finger in her very tiny fist. He smiled "Yea...yea, its ok. Everything's gonna be ok" he chuckled slightly, before sighing, his features hardening. "Reid, what kind of monster murders expecting mothers, takes their children, and kills them?" Poison spat at every word, Dereks blood boiling at the very thought...

Spencer pushed a piece of hair out of his face and shook his head. "The kind we work with every day. It is beyond horrible, yes, but at least that's one more monster off the streets." Derek nodded, rocking the coddled baby in his arms. "When you put it that way...but still, Reid.." He sighed "I'm glad we got here in time to save her" Boy genius walked over to the two "I wonder if she has any family, or if the State is going to take her." Dereks heart dropped. "Kid, have you heard the reputation of foster homes around here? They're unclean, and overcrowded, and-and noisy...she's an infant Reid, s-she needs medical attention, special care, one-on-one love and comfort, not passed from home to home like...l-like some sort of object..."

Spence raised an eyebrow. Derek never showed this much emotion or passion when it came to child cases "Alright..." he said after a few. "What do you want to do with her then?" he asked, starting to make his way outside. Morgan followed him, still holding the baby close. "I...I'm going to take care of her" he stopped outside by a tree and smiled, looking down at the sleeping angel. "Yea. I'm gonna keep her" JJ rushed over. "How's the baby? Is she ok?" Reid nodded "Oh yea, she's fine...Dereks even thinking of taking her in as his own" He said flatly, not particularly fond of the spontaneous new idea presented to him. JJ blinked in surprise. "Waitwaitwait...back up..you're gonna adopt her? No offense Derek, but do you even know the first thing about childcare?" "I can learn" he insisted "JJ, I've wanted to be a dad my entire life. I couldn't wait to have my own kid one day. Now, I have that opportunity, and I don't plan on wasting it" he said, determined to give this girl the life she deserves.

JJ looked over at Hotch a few yards away and sighed "Alright, but you're gonna have to convince more than me and Spence if you're really gonna follow through with this..." Before she made her way back to her and Hotch's SUV, she smiled "I'm proud of you Derek, for deciding to give her a real chance in life" she smiled at the little bundle in his arms before walking back to join the others. Spencer looked over at the two "She....is kind of adorable, I guess once you get used to her" Morgan chuckled "This your way of stating your approval?" he smiled. Reid just shrugged "If you're really going to do this, you need support don't you?" The young MIT graduate smiled "Come on, let's go tell Hotch about the newest member"
