Suddenly i awoke, dripping in sweat, laying on my mattress. i shot up, slowly becoming aware of my surroundings.

"What the hell,"

Was it all a dream? I grabbed my phone from the hardwood floor, realizing the time was 9:30. Exactly the same time i awoke in that dream.

I threw on my swim trunks, making my way to the kitchen. Grabbing myself a water bottle and my keys, before dashing out of my apartment.

I slowly jogged down the pavement, taking note of the time. I caught something out of the corner of my eye, glancing over and seeing a crowd of people stood near a building, holding signs and screaming.

I couldn't quite make out what they were chanting, but it wasn't my business anyways.

Hold on, everything that happened in my dream had happened so far in real time.

Is my dream going to predict the future?

-

I managed to pull my ID from my lanyard, scanning it at the gate and walking in.

My manager seemed thrilled that i was late, but honestly i didn't care.

"Sap if you're late one more time your outta here,"

"Yea, yea, i'll take note on that,"

She stood tapping her foot, arms crossed as i waltzed to the white chair that had awaited my presence all morning.

Soon enough, Karl was at the gate, signing his name on the sheet of paper.

I decided to ignore the dream, considering it was all in my head.

"Hey Karl!" I yelled, cupping my hands around my mouth, echoing my voice across the pavement.

"Hey Sap!" He padded towards my chair, pulling up a lounge chair and flopping onto its warm surface.

"How was your day?" I tried spiking a conversation.

"Really? It's 11:00 a.m Sap," He laughed, soon reciting his morning.

"Well, i got up, showered, made myself breakfast, scrolled twitter, and now i'm here,"

"Welp, better then my morning," I replied.

"I just woke up, got dressed, and came here,"

Karl hummed in response.

"What are you doing after this?" I fiddled with my fingers.

"Nothing really, i was just gonna go thrifting,"

"Can i take you to dinner?" I but my bottoms lip, praying he would accept, making the situation less awkward.

"Really? Yea! I would love that!" He threw me a smile, running his hand through his caramel coloured hair.

"Alright, i'll pick you up at 7:00?"

"Mhm!"

So it was settled, i was gonna take Mr. Jacobs to dinner.

I scoured my closet, trying to find anything that looks the least bit decent. I eventually came across an old black suit, probably belonging to my father.

When my dads got married, they both wore suits, one being matched with a blue tie, the other with a orange tie.

I grasped the hanger pulling the suit out, some dust particles escaping the surface.

I coughed, covering my mouth and throwing the suit onto my bed.

I didn't have a duster, so my using my hand was the next best thing.

Surprisingly, the jacket fit perfectly, along with the pants as well. Just one problem. I don't know how to tie a tie.

"Whatever," I huffed, shoving the tie in pocket.

I made a beeline for the door, grabbing my wallet and phone off the counter before shutting the door behind me.

"I'll be at your apartment in like 10 minutes, okay?"

"Will do,"

If there's anything my father told me before he passed, he told me the man should always pay for the dinner. Which was ironic considering he married a man.

The sidewalk was cracked, weird considering this part of the city was fairly new.

I stepped up to Karls apartment building, stepping inside. There he was, dressed in a grey-ish suit, complete with a purple tie, with some weird green swirl in the center.

"Sapnap!" He ran up to me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders.

In shock, not knowing how to react, i 'hugged' him back. Basically just gave him a pat on the back.

I'm not too fond of physical touch, but i know from talking with him, physical touch was Karl's love language.

This wasn't a date, it was more like 2 friends trying to get to know each other better.

We walked out of the building, when he noticed i wasn't wearing my tie.

"Do you not have a tie?" He asked, subtly slowing down his pace.

"Uhm, I mean, i do, have one. I just uh,"

"Don't know how to tie it?" He finished for me.

I was too embarrassed to actually tell him i couldn't tie one.

"Uh, yea," I felt my face flush red and pink.

I reached into my pocket, pulling out the orange tie, laced with flames coloured red and a lighter shade of orange.

He began knotting the tie underneath the collar of my white undershirt.

"And," Karl paused. "Done," He smiled, adjusting his own purple tie.

The restaurants as pretty vacant, besides another couple and a group of 5 people.

"Hello, table for 2?" The waitress smiled politely, motioning us towards a table upstairs, near a large window.

"What can i get you boys to drink?"

"I'll have a water," I worded.

"I'll have what he's getting," Karl smiled.

She walked away, and we soon immersed ourselves in conversation.

"What made you want to become a lifeguard?" Karl asked, fiddling with a ring around his finger.

"I don't really know, really it was a good option with decent pay. I didn't want something too low pay, but lifeguarding was decent enough," I answered

"That's interesting,"

"Yea and then he," I was going on.

"You know, there's something i've never told you that i think i should tell you about," He stopped walking and faced me.

"What's that?"

"You talk too much," He whispered, cupping my face, and pressing his lips against mine.

He smiled, walking away.

"We should do this again, Sappy," Karl smirked, walking away down the sidewalk.

By the way, if you didn't know, this story is based off the song, 'Talk too much - Coin' so if you want to give that a listen.
