Luna and her friends sat on the chairs that Kathrine had brought for them. Iris had managed to get the mouse out of the house while Asher found a way to get the key. Now all that Luna had to do was negotiate with the man Kathrine said about.
"Are you sure we should hold up our end of the bargain before she does? You know that she could just get what she wanted and leave us without a way to reach the mines," Asher pointed out.
Luna considered this for a moment. Being a princess, she knew everything about negotiations, but she just didn't think of that with all that was going on.
"We probably should ask her for the ride before we do her the last favor," Luna said after thinking things through.
"I agree," Iris piped up.
Katherine walked into the room and sat down.
"Are you ready to finish this," she asked.
"Actually..how do we know you won't leave us after you have what you want," Luna asked.
"What exactly are you suggesting," Katherine asked, anger clear in her voice.
"We mean that we won't finish your last favor until you at least fulfill half of our deal," Asher told her.
"This is not happening. I won't be forced around by a group of children," she shouted.
"Then this deal is over," Luna said.
Both her cousins looked at her, surprised. Luna knew that she should've asked them first, but they didn't have time.
"You do realize that she was our only chance in getting quickly to the mines," Asher said once they were outside.
"I can't believe you took your decision without asking for our opinions. I don't know if I am correct, but I think the whole thing about your parents has changed you," Iris spoke.
"Excuse me for getting excited over finding my parents. At least they actually treated me like their child, not like yours," Luna said, realizing too late that she shouldn't have done this.
"Guys I am-," she tried to apologize but was interrupted by Iris.
"Forget it. You are right. Our parents don't think of us as their children," Iris said in a low, depressing sound.
Luna looked at her feet. How could she have done that?! She has been friends with them for almost all her life! She saw them both walk away. She would have tried to stop them if it wasn't for Kathline opening the door and grabbing her arm.
"What do you want," Luna said, her voice breaking."I heard what you said to them. Is it true," she asked.
"Why do you care?"
"Because if that is the case, then I agree to take you to the mines.""Wait what? You would do that?"
"Of course I would. Do you think I am a monster? Now go call them before they wander away and get lost."Luna smiled a bit and went to call them, only to realize that they weren't there. Where did they go? Luna frantically looked around, trying to figure out where they were, but it was no use. It was like they vanished. Then she heard some soft whispers coming from behind a thick, leafless tree. She probably didn't notice it because it was dark and so was the area. She walked to the tree and was about to tell them when she heard them mention her name.
"Do you think we should've walked away like that. Luna deserves to be happy for knowing her parents were alive. She hasn't seen them since she was two," Iris said.
"I couldn't agree more, but don't you think she is going to be mad because we stormed off like that," Asher told her.
What? They thought that she was mad? In fact, they weren't angry or sad because of what she said about their parents. If there was anything Luna learnt about her cousins from being with them for a long time, it was that they had the most impressive patience anyone could ever have. If they do get angry, then it must be really big. Luna decided to forget that she heard this conversation and just tell them about Katherine.
"Iris, Asher, I have been looking for you everywhere. Katherine has agreed to give us a ride to the mines," Luna said, smiling.
"Really! This is amazing! But why did she," Iris asked.
"She overheard our conversation and changed her mind," Luna said, deciding to say the truth.
"That is great news! What are we waiting for, then? Let us go find your parents," Asher said excitingly.
Both of them seemed to forget about what happened, and Luna did so too.
They started this adventure together, and they were going to end it together.
