"ChaCha, I'm telling you this girl is a nightmare."
She laughed into the camera. "I could've told you that before you got her pregnant. Sadly you're in it for the next eighteen years if this kid is really yours."
Chandra doesn't believe that the baby is mine even though I have traced the dates back. Genesis was with me the entire window when we would've conceived, so I don't see how it's possible that the baby is anyone else's. I've made my bed and now I have to lay in it.
"Anyway, how did it go with her family?"
"Fucking hell..." I groaned and rolled my eyes. "They're another breed sis, I swear."
"That bad?"
"First off, her daddy is the laziest human being on the motherfucking planet. He ain't even help with anything but it makes sense cause he's dumb rich and they have people to cater to their every need. Her mom has zero sense and is the definition of a gold digger. Her siblings are the damn same. The only person in that family who had a single clue was her grandmother, her mother's mom. I don't know how many times that woman apologised to me for their behaviour and all that. To top all that off they didn't seem to care about the baby at all, only the grandma. That's probably the worst possible family to bring a child around."
"Damn." She sighed and got quiet for a minute. "There's not much you can do about that Aug, that's on them and her. The thing you can do though is show that baby love and shoe him or her how they deserve to be treated, raise the baby right. Don't let the little one end up like that witch and her family."
I chuckled. "You really don't like Genesis, do you?"
"Hell no and if it were up to me, she would've been shown how New Orleans gets down. That's just me though, anyway I have to go. Your nieces have been hounding me to take them to the theatre."
"My lil babies. Give them some love from me then and check your bank account, I'm transferring you some stuff to cover whatever y'all are doing today."
"August you don't have to do that-"
"I want to. I promise Melly that I'd take care of his girls, so that's what I'm doing. Y'all have fun, aight? I love you ChaCha."
She wiped away a stray tear and smiled. "Thank you for always making sure we're straight, I love you too little bro. I'll FaceTime you later with the girls."
"I'll be waiting. Peace."
I hung up and slipped my phone into the pocket of my jeans. Then I signalled to Terrence who had been waiting patiently by the door that it was time for us to go. I'd just got done doing another show and I have a flight to catch out to Idaho for my second to last show of my tour. The final show is going to be in Las Vegas where I plan to have some of my boys coming out to perform too - this will be a show for the history books. Thankfully I have a few weeks between now and then to recuperate...but that also means a few weeks with Genesis' nagging ass; I'm still not over what I experienced when we went to Miami to meet her family.
Genesis held onto my hand as we walked up the cobblestone path to the house. It was this huge mansion that was tucked away on a one way street and it definitely screamed wealth. When we got to the door, she rang the doorbell and then looked at me.
"Don't be nervous. They'll like you."
I'm not nervous. To be honest I don't even care but I'll try build at the very least a cordial relationship with these people for the sake of my child.
We waited for a good two to three minutes before the door opened and there stood a maid. That was the first thing that put me off. I get having staff and stuff especially in a house a big as this, but when you're expecting someone at your house, wouldn't you want to be the one to open the door and welcome them in? First impressions are everything but this right here is not it.
"Miss Parker, welcome home."
"Thanks Chess. This is my boyfriend August."
The woman smiled and shook my hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Chessie, the Parker's head maid. Call on me for anything you need while you are here."
"Thanks."
Genesis lead me inside, the whole time she held onto my hand. We came into the living room where who I assume was her family were seated. A man with a big beer belly was on a reclining chair with his feet up, drinking a bottle of beer and eating chips. A woman who would've been around the man's age sat there watching whatever was on the TV but every few seconds she'd hold her hand up and stare at the many rings that adorned her fingers. A girl who looked a lot like Genesis but chunkier sat on the sofa flipping through a magazine and next to her was a guy who also looked a lot like Genesis and was sipping on a beer.
"Mom, Dad, Sylvester, Antonia, this is my boyfriend August."
Everyone looked at me. Her mom's eyes widened, I guess noticing who I was, and rushed over to Genesis and hugged her tight before doing the same to me.
"You picked a good one Gene! Handsome and has the means to support you, I definitely approve."
I bit my tongue and held myself back from what I wanted to say. Gold digger.
The rest of the introductions were about the same as the first and made me second guess everything but I was going to play it cool. This is for my child after all.
The drive to the airport was surprisingly quick and in not time I was seated in first class next to this white grandmother who knew who I was. Terrence couldn't help but laugh at her reaction, so did all my other security and crew. I don't really travel in jets because I don't see the point. Why pay five hundred thousand dollars a flight when you could pay a few hundred to be on a normal plane in first class?
"My granddaughter just loves you. Can we take a picture together? I have to show her otherwise she won't believe me."
I chuckled. "Yeah of course. How about we take it on my phone and post it on my social media? I'm sure she'll see it through that and then she'll have no choice but to believe you."
