Shit. I had to run home and make myself look presentable. I speed-walked outside of the school, hopping on my bike. I threw my bag over my shoulder. I pedaled home, pulling into my driveway. I wheeled my bike into my garage. I took my bag off my shoulder, holding it. I walked in the back door. My mom was washing dishes.

"Oh, hi, y/n! How was your first day? Did you make any friends?"

"It was good. Yeah, I did.. I'm going to hang out with them tonight, is that okay?"

"It's a school night.. But I suppose it's alright."

"Thanks, mom."

"Your brother has some friends over, be careful where you change." She laughed.

"Alright, mom." I was desperate to see who my brother's friends were, so I walked back into the hallway where his bedroom was. I opened the door, poking my head in. "Hi, Matthew."

He was sat in a circle with 5 other boys. They all looked at me. They were playing dungeons and dragons. My brother was a geek.

"Hi, y/n." He gave me an angry stare. "We're kinda busy."

"Right, I just wanted to see who your friends were."

"Hello, miss." One of them said. He was short, and had curly dark hair.

"Hi," I replied.

"Matthew, why don't you introduce all of us to this.. lovely lady." He said, smirking.

"Sure.." Matthew said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Um, that's Neal." He gestured to the guy who had just spoken to me. He went from left to right of him in the circle. "Bill, Sam, Gordon, and Harris."

I smiled, "Hi everyone. I'm y/n." I looked at Sam. "Are you Lindsay Weir's brother."

"Uh, yeah, that's me." He chuckled nervously.

"Your sister is cool. I'm gonna hang out with her and her other friends tonight. I'll tell her you say hi." I smiled, teasing him a bit.

"Okay, y/n. Have a nice time, bye!" Matthew said, standing up to close the door in my face.

I laughed, knowing I had achieved my goal of embarrassing him. His friends were total geeks. I walked into my room, sitting at my mirror. I put on a bit of eyeliner, making a small wing. I searched through my closet, finding a Led Zeppelin shirt. It was my brother's, who was in college. It was too big for me, but I put it on anyways. I put on some jeans, which I cuffed at the bottom. I put on some old, dirty, white sneakers. I brushed my hair, fixing it. I was confident that I looked good. I put on some light colored lipstick, smacking my lips and posing in the mirror. I opened my bedroom door, walking confidently out into the hallway. "Bye, Mom. I'll be back later."

"Okay, sweetheart, don't be home too late!" She smiled as I walked out the back door. "You look good!"

I hopped back onto my bike. Lindsay had told me Nick's address earlier, so I tried to remember it. I was very excited. I made friends who wanted to hang out with me! I arrived at what I thought was Nick's house. I knocked on the garage door. After a few moments, it slowly opened. Kim, Daniel, Ken, Lindsay and Nick were all in there. Kim and Daniel were cuddling on the couch, while Lindsay, Ken, and Nick sat on the floor near the couch, drinking pop. Rush blasted from the stereo.

"Y/n!" Lindsay called out. "Come in!" I stepped into the garage.

Nick pressed the clicker, closing it behind me. "What's up??" Nick couldn't keep his eyes off of me.

"Hey, guys. Cool garage, Nick."

"Thanks, y/n. Have a seat!" He patted the ground next to him.

I sat on the floor, my legs criss crossed. Nick leaned closer to me, whispering. "Kim and Daniel have been at it for a while."

"God, can you guys get a room?" Ken said, laughing.

Daniel stopped kissing Kim, gasping for air. "Nick, is your dad home?"

"No." He laughed.

"We'll be upstairs." Kim and Daniel stood up, giggling and struggling to stop kissing as they went up the steps.

I laughed. "Well, they're in love, huh."

"They break up every week." Ken said, repositioning the way he was sitting.

"Hey, y/n?" Lindsay said. "Can I talk to you.. In private."

I looked around, confused. "Sure."

We both stood up, walking to the top of the steps. Lindsay closed the basement door. She smiled. "Nick told us he feels a connection between you two."

I smiled back. "Really?"

"Yeah, he told us about what happened in first period today.. You guys are really hitting it off, huh?"

"I guess so." My smile faded. "Lindsay, you're not mad at me for liking him, right? Because you dated him and everything."

"No! I'm over Nick. Me and him are just friends. Plus, I'm kinda into a college guy."

My eyes widened. "A college guy? Really?"

"Yeah, I met him at my brother's friend's party last year.. I got to visit him over the summer while a few friends and I followed the grateful dead."

"The grateful dead suck." I laughed.

"No they don't! They helped me through a lot." She turned me around. "Now, let's go."

I opened the basement door, walking downstairs.

"Hey, guys, me and y/n were just talking about how Mark was having a party tonight. We should go!"

"Yeah, that would rock!" Nick said, standing up.

Ken sighed heavily. "I'll go get Kim and Daniel.."

"I have to go.. put some makeup on, so I'll meet you guys there! Lindsay said, as Nick opened the garage door for her. She was leaving me and Nick alone.

As the garage door closed, it was just us two.

"It'll probably take a while to get Kim and Daniel. It's hard to keep them from going all.. goo-goo eyes on each other." He laughed.

I chuckled. "Yeah, I can tell."

I looked around the garage. I turned around, and Nick was behind me. He was pretty close. "Oh-" I said, my face going slightly red. "Hi."

He smiled.

I looked at his lips, licking mine. I wanted to kiss him.

"Hey, I was just about to show you this." He gently grabbed my biceps, turning me back around. He pointed to a pair of bongos on a shelf. "I got these bongos at a yard sale last year with Ken. I was gonna add them to my drum kit, so I'd have a nice, 30 pieces. But when I got home with them, my drums were gone."

I frowned, "Aw, Nick. That really sucks."

"Yeah, I'm working on saving money to get a new kit, though. It won't be nearly as big as my old one.. Or Neil Peart's at all."

I turned back around.

"I love your shirt."

"Really? It's my brother's."

"You have a brother?" He walked over to the couch, sitting down.

"I have two," I sat down next to him. "One is 15, the other is almost 21."
