There was once one nation split into two
They raised a great hullabaloo
They fought brother against brother
A war like no other
With every cannon's great blast
A darker shadow was cast
The blood as wide as the open sea
A vision of one nation that needs to be
A single man's lasting dream came at such a cost
For so many lives were lost
Some thought he was just a fool
And others thought he had a genius tool
As the foundation was laid
And the price was paid
As our heads in reverence, bow and nod
We can proudly declare one nation under God
