"Rise and shine!" My dad exclaimed as he walked into my room and opened up the blinds. It was seven am on Thursday morning. My dad was a ridiculously and disgustingly happy person in the morning. I, however, was not. Not even close.
"Go away," I grumbled, putting a pillow over my face and curling up into a ball under my sheets. "Not today, satan, not today."
"Don't be melodramatic," my dad laughed and then pulled the pillow off my face. "Come on, I'm making breakfast and I have some news."
I furrowed my eyebrows and before I could ask him what the hell he was talking about, he walked out of my room. I sighed heavily and pushed the blankets off me, leaving the bed. Getting out of bed was such a struggle for me even though I had slept like a baby last night.
After a quick shower and after I was gone getting ready, I grabbed my school stuff and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
"So what's the news?" I asked through a mouthful of pancakes and reached for my drink.
"Oh, right!" My dad exclaimed and placed his elbows on the table. You could say we didn't have the best table manners around this house. "I have to leave town for work today, around five. I'll be gone until Monday."
"Oh, is that newspaper awards thingie? Where the writers for the newspaper get awards?" I asked with a scowl. They were always during a weekend so my dad always took me and I hated it.
"Yes, the newspaper award thingie," he laughed. "Anyway, I don't want you to miss school, so you won't be going with me--"
"Dad, don't worry. I wasn't always exactly thrilled about going. I think I'll be okay," I told him with a shrug.
"Right, but that doesn't mean you can just stay here," he said and I furrowed my eyebrows. What did that even mean? "I spoke to the Hoods and you'll be staying with them."
I nearly spat out my drank when I heard him say the words. "What?!" I shouted and slammed my hands down on the table. "Dad, please don't make me!"
"And I'm taking your car keys so you don't run off with Ashton and your house keys. I don't want any parties," he said, jiggling my house and care keys in his hand.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, so now you don't trust me?" I asked, pretending to be offended. I knew my dad just wanted to keep me out of trouble. Ashton lived in a frat house and that's the last place he would ever want me to go.
"I'm just looking out for you, you little turd," he joked and then continued to eat his breakfast.
I carried on like normal on the outside, even though inside I was absolutely shitting myself. How the hell was I supposed to survive four days under the same roof as Calum Hood?! This was a recipe for disaster! I wanted to laugh and cry and throw up. Or maybe even die. Anything to get me out of spending four days in Calum's house.
"Stop freaking out, you'll be fine," my dad said a moment later and I rolled my eyes.
"Ugh, you can't make me!" I whined. "Need I remind you: this is the kid that threw his sandwich at my face a few days ago!" I said and crossed my arms over my chest.
My dad laughed. "Yes, there was lettuce on your face!" He said as he continue to laugh at me and his cheeks turned red. My dad didn't laugh very often, so it was nice to see him do so. I couldn't be angry when he was laughing like that.
I pouted. "It wasn't that funny," I huffed, trying to hide a smile.
"You got a sandwich thrown at your face, I'm sure it was a little funny," he said with a smile and I stuck my tongue out him.
