Vincenzo carried her to her bedroom and calmed her down while I helped calm Vienna down.
Vincenzo came out of the room and Vienna immediately ran to engulf him in a hug.He pats her back affectionately.
"It's alright." He says quietly.
"Ma was having a bad episode."
"Dad said not to call the police- I didn't know what to do." Vienna cries burying her dark brown hair into his chest."I didn't know what to do," Vienna insisted again.
"Shh, you did the right thing. Listen, Dad and I spoke and we want to put mamma in a place that can look after her for a couple weeks. Just until she settles down." Vincenzo explains gently and compassionately.
He brushes tears away from Vienna's face." how long?" Vienna questioned.
"A month max." Vincenzo replies quickly.
"And you'll move back home, help with everything?" She asked and Vincenzo looks at me, Vienna looks at me too, her face falls."Oh." It's a quiet defeated sound that breaks my heart.
"I'll drop the girls off at school and drop them home, watch them over the weekend. Dad is taking time off work so he'll be here earlier, 5 at the latest." Vincenzo tried to console her.
"I need you here." She says wiping her eyes. "Please... Sara can stay here with us... can't she?" Vienna turned to me. Tears in almond brown eyes.
"If that's okay with your dad." I said staring at Vincenzo who stared at me as if I'd said the wrong thing.
"Come." Vincenzo says to Vienna, leading her away from me with a sturdy arm around her shoulder.
I stood there awkwardly before turning towards Vienna's parent's room. It was completely silent there, nothing but the faint mixture of their parent's scents invaded my senses.
At the corner of my eye I saw movement. I turned sharply.
"Woah there." Finn said with a quiet chuckle. "Didn't mean to scare you."
"It's alright, I'm sorry I didn't hear you come in. " I said, feeling uncomfortable around him especially after what Vienna said about the way that he looked at Nia.Finn and I always shared very straight forward interactions, he complimented me on my achievements but that was mostly it. We were polite and courteous but that was about the extend of our relation.
But there was one memory of him that I remembered that always filled me with warmth.I didn't doubt what Vienna said because Men were raised to be Dogs but during my middle school promotion, I had invited my father only to have him call me a couple hours before from Vienna's mother's phone to say he couldn't get off work.
I had gone to rehearsal staring at the giant bouquet of flower's Vienna's family had gotten her in envy.
About an hour later once it was my turn to go up stage and make the speech my music teacher had written for me.
I saw that Vienna's mother who had been accompanied by her husband, was sat besides an empty chair with baby vera and Virginia besides her.Once I got off the stage and she gave Vienna and I a hug and handed her the bouquet.
A teacher jumps to take pictures of them.About 15 minutes later Finn charged into the room, Holding another giant bouquet.
He'd handed it to me and I had been made speechless by the whole thing.
They'd said my father asked them to buy it for me.
But I'd thanked him for it and he'd looked genuinely confused.I'd called to thank them the next day, from their house phone.
And they'd reluctantly admitted to their lie."Is she going to be okay?" I asked Finn and he scratches his head.
"She'll be okay." He didn't sound sure but I didn't press, who could be sure?
