"So, any plans for tonight?" Val questions, leaning on his elbows smiling at me. I shrug my shoulder slightly, "Maybe, I don't know yet". He hums softly, leaning back on his desk. "Why, what about you?" I ask.. teeth biting my bottom lip. "Nothing really.. same old same old". 'Hmm' I think quietly, "Well, that sounds fun" I joke.. a small smile forming on his face.
"Why, do you want to do something?" He questions, one of his eyebrows raised, looking at me expectantly. "Where would you get that Idea?" "From you of course" he says smugly, closing his eyes. "Don't get your hopes up, I never said I wanted to spend my time with you". "Well of course you didn't, I can just tell", 'Oh really?". Popping one eye open, he grins at me, "Of course". I shake my head, grinning "and what if I refuse?" He sits up, leaning over his desk to look me right in the eye. "I can be very persuasive".
I shove him back, making him grin like a little shit he is. The bell rings above us, He stands up and grab's my bag. "You didn't have to do that" I say shoving him playfully, "I know" he says causally. He follows me outside his boyish grin stuck in my head. We arrive at my car, "Thank-". "Val!" A loud voice yells, interrupting me, he turns around, his broad shoulders blocking my view.
"Jared" He yells back, his smile brighter than the sun, making me smile behind him. "We still on for tonight?" I hear, I see him tense up.. curiosity filling my mind. "I don't know J,.." He trails off, suddenly Val's body is out of my view and short blonde hair is all in my face. "Wha?" "Hello" The blonde says, sticking his hand out smiling at me. "Hi" I whisper back, Val's gaze burning in my back.
"So this is the famous Zendaya" He pipes up, making me turn and glare at Val. "The one and only" Val says smiling at me, "Sorry you are?" I question embarrassment written all over my face. "Jared, but you can call me Jer". "Well it's lovely to meet you" Val returns back to his spot, blocking Jared from me. "So, tonight ?" He says again, and Val sighs. "Maybe". "Good" He says, patting Val on the shoulder and turning around with a smile.
I watch him turn around, and wave at me "Bye Zendaya". I peek from behind Val and wave, biting my lip once again. Once he's gone, Val turns and faces me, "Sorry about him, he's a bit.. off". I hip bump him softly, grabbing my bag. "Thank for carrying this, See you tomorrow". "Anytime, see you later" he winks, and walks off in other direction.
I shake my head in disbelief.. what a arrogant ass. Slipping in the driver seat, I start the engine.. my phone buzzing to life. Groaning I answer it, "Hello?" I snap.. already knowing who's waiting on the other end. "Zendaya, how nice it is to hear your voice". 'Yuck' "What do you wan't mom?" I sigh.. my eyes rolling.
"Just to see how you're doing, it never killed anyone to check on their daughter you know" She says roughly, "Okay mom.. sorry" I mutter, leaning back in my seat letting the sun cast a warm light on my face. "I wan't you to come and visit, it's been so long" She exclaims. "Sure mom, maybe this weekend, I might be busy.." I trail off, "Oh what is this I hear.. you have plans!" she screeches into the phone...Making me flinch and pull it away from my ear.
"Jesus" I breath, putting the phone back to my ear. "Yes mom, I have plans please don't have a heart attack". "Oh Zendaya, it's been so long since I've heard from you..and now you're telling me you have plans!" She cheers, I close my eyes holding back my laughter. "Okay mom, haha" I joke back.. my cheeks turning a bright shade of pink. We chat a little longer, laughter filling my car like I never thought it could. "Just remember" she says sternly.. "You're grades mean alot too me, don't blow them please" 'and there we are mother' I think bitterly.
"Of course, goodbye". The ride home is long, making sure I stop by my aunt's just to say a quick hey and how's it going. Today has seem to drag on forever, and not in the way where i'm exhausted but where I'm very annoyed. It was all great, until I start feeling down in the dumps about my so called 'mom'. Which is pretty pitiful, If I do say so myself because I know she work's hard for the money she gets and I know she wants what's best for me.. but sometimes I just need a friend figure and not a mom one.
So arriving home I change, brush my teeth and go into the living room. I sit down on my couch, pulling a cigarette out and plopping it into my mouth. Grabbing my lighter and lighting it up, the smoke filling my lungs making my over heated body feel a little more relaxed. I never really broke this habit, and I guess it could get pretty bad if I didn't.
The lonely feeling settling in my stomach, making me realize how attached I've grown to Val being around. His little bad boy act really sticking too me. Stomping my cigarette out, I lay my hand in my hands. I can see a envelope in the corner of my eye, and I roll my eyes. A dream that will never come true' I think bitterly, looking away from it.
Sometimes I really realize why I despise my mom. Why I don't visit and why I don't make a effort, because she crushed my dreams. All my hopes, everything that had too do with dancing, she crushed them. Sighing, I shrug my shoulders a bit, getting up I step out for just one more smoke.
