to put it simply, astrid is a bitch. she's cocky in every way possible and hates everyone who approaches her. so don't approach her. she's the only camper in the nemesis cabin, since her dumbass of a half brother, ethan nakamura, got himself killed. she's clever and can worm her way out of any situation, normal and near death situations alike. consider her the brains of the group. once you get through to her, she'll be somewhat nice to you. not bestie nice, but somewhat nice. when it comes to capture the flag, astrid gets extremely competitive and would do anything for her team to win.

before coming to camp half blood, astrid did have a good relationship with her father. her father was a named named tyler belle. yeah, was. astrid's father took care of her for 14 years. he was her best friend, since she didn't like anybody. one day, a monster had sniffed out astrid while she and her father were at a local park. the two immediately got into the car and drove off. already living in new york, it didn't take her father long to get her to camp. she stayed there for the summer and came home to go back to school. shortly after her fourteenth birthday came around, and also shortly after astrid came back from her second summer at camp, her father was killed by a monster targeting her. she packed up her things and left for camp, and has never gone since. astrid never had a mother figure in her life. tyler, her father, was too attached to nemesis to ever fall in love again.

at first, astrid didn't like percy. what a surprise! the gods favorited him and she hated that. percy knew she hated him. chiron made them partners for the cabin check and percy took this as an opportunity to talk to her. astrid pushed him away like she did to everyone else. percy respected that she didn't want to be friends with him and left her alone. then, one night, she had a nightmare. the nightmare showed her greatest fear. the night her father died. she wanted someone to be there with her, to comfort her. but she didn't have any friends. nico was at camp jupiter visiting hazel so she couldn't go to him. instead she found herself going to the poseidon cabin. percy found her crying at his door and invited her in. she was shivering and crying so he took one of his hoodies and placed it on her. he comforted her until she calmed down. that was the first time that astrid had cried in front of someone. and she felt safe with him. just like she had felt when her father was still around. after that night, the two began to talk more. astrid kept the hoodie, of course.
