His mother's "Bye sweetie!" was the last thing he heard before closing the door of their small abode. Midoriya felt terrible for leaving his mother so soon, she worked the evening shifts and wouldn't be home when he got back, and he just came back from the... trip up north. He decided he felt odd, wearing normal clothes and not the haori and robe he was so accustomed to. Dress pants were difficult to keep nice, and they were itchy. He would prefer his black ones over this anyday.

He made a point to not get distracted, wanting to get to UA, the UA , early enough to figure out where his class is.

He also decided he wasn't used to the streets and turns, yes he had grown up here, but like his mother pointed out, he changed a lot since he was last here.

His hands were tougher, his training having made them rougher. He was also stronger, muscle hiding underneath his new uniform. You couldn't really tell that much, he just wasn't a twig anymore. Anyone could have achieved the same appearance through a summer of working out.

He also had an undercut, the longer part slightly sticking up from having worn a mask for hours on end previously. He didn't have the hopeless bush of hair his mother used to argue with, it was also slightly straighter, something his mother was thankful for.

He had also worn the hanafuda earrings almost religiously after his father passed away, but since coming back he decided to not bring them to UA, just in case they got broken. Without them, he felt different. Not, this-feels-weird-because-there's-more-air-by-my-neck weird, something-it's-missing weird.

He was taller, something his mother didn't believe was possible. He wasn't the little 5'4" boy everyone used to bully for being quirkless, but a 5'6" boy (still growing too!) who couldn't shake the air of superiority he managed to get over the two years. Two inches wasn't much, but enough Mitsuki and Masaru were surprised when they swung by to see him. Kach- Katsuki had been too busy with his acceptance into UA to care whether or not he came back, in fact Izuku was pretty sure he didn't know about his return.

Making sure he went on the right train, he held onto the pole while scrolling through the news to see what he had missed, a habit he had since coming back and finding out the Waterhose duo didn't survive an attack.

All Might was being more active in the area, but had also been gradually letting the newer generation of heroes take care of more situations. He could be planning to retire soon, but the man was too determined to stay active for as long as he could to go down willingly.

The UA teachers were also slowing down with their support in the fight against crime, getting ready for school to start. Looking at the school's website there weren't any new teachers, so the heroics teachers were Vlad King and an unnamed pro hero, for whom this year would mark seven years of teaching.

No mention of anything worse than typical criminals, nothing he would have to take care of.

To be honest he didn't really know how he got into UA without doing the entrance exam. After Urokodaki-sensei passed away he was delivered a letter of acceptance from the principal and soon a package with the uniform.

Getting off the train he started his way towards the school. He is doing this. He is going to UA, his lifelong dream, and was on his path to whatever he ended up doing. He wasn't going to be a hero, he gave up after realizing most of the adults around him never really supported him, so he decided on a new path.

Whatever this new path was.

After he managed to find the classroom, he was surprised to find a huge door. He quietly opened it, revealing a tall, built-like-a-wall boy with blue hair and glasses yelling at... Katsuki? He supposed some things were bound to change in two years, but this was more than he was expecting.

He glanced at the board to see he was sitting behind the explosive boy. Already he knew this would be a long three years and it was barely the first day of school. As more people filtered in (a kid with a tail, a tall girl with a ponytail, a short boy following the girl (who he tripped, gaining a thankful look from the girl), a girl with bouncy brown hair, so many different people, there was a kid with a bird head for crying out loud!) the classroom gradually got louder, the blank noise of chatter reminding him of Aldera.

Everyone was sitting in their seats, introducing themselves to the people around them, no one noticed the door opening again.

He watched the yellow sleeping bag crawl in the room, glancing to see if anyone else saw it. Everyone was busy talking.

He held a staring contest with the man inside, and after they both blinked he spoke up.

"Umm guys?" He spoke loudly, just enough to get their attention, "Is that our teacher?" He pointed to the sleeping bag.

The class of nineteen other students looked to him, to his hand, to the sleeping bag. Midoriya could feel the stare of a familiar blonde.

"14 seconds. It took you 14 seconds to quiet down, and that's after Midoriya had watched me for nearly a minute."
