I laugh at the two women fighting over the patient. Then, Alex and Meredith start fighting over a guy with nails in his side while I run over to a guy with a nasty gash in his head.
Delilah: hello there... Parker. My name is Dr. Delilah Shepherd, I will be attending to you today. How are you feeling right now?
Parker: light headed.
Delilah: well, I don't blame you with the gash you got going on, on your head. And you seem to have a couple of other cuts that will need stitches as well so let me get to those right away.
Parker: I hope I don't sound creepy when I say this, but you're very beautiful.
Delilah: thank you, you're very sweet.
Parker: are you seeing anyone?
Delilah: no, I'm single. But I'm not really looking for anything, I'm focusing on my career for the time being.
Parker: ouch. There goes my chance of asking you out.I chuckle as I bring out a needle with anesthesia.
Parker: I'm joking. I'm happily taken so you're in the clear.
Delilah: good. I need to stick this in your head to numb the pain to do your stitches so stay still.I stick the needle into the cut then I start doing the stitches.
Parker: no offense, you seem fairly young to be a doctor.
Delilah: none taken. I'm actually a surgical intern, but I promise you that I am just as qualified as any doctor in this hospital.
Parker: I don't doubt that at all. If you don't mind me asking, is there any other reason why you aren't dating right now?
Delilah: well, this is a pretty typical answer for a surgeon but I want to be with someone who understands that my career is everything. I want someone who will understand my lifestyle. If I start dating another surgeon, I know we will work out because we live the same lifestyle. Not a lot of people understand what it's like being a surgeon. The crazy hours, the lack of sleep we get, the amount of saves and losses we go through every day. Sometimes, it's hard for people to understand. You get me?
Parker: I totally get it.
Delilah: alright. The stitches on your head are done. Now, let's take a look at that arm of yours.Parker gives me his arm and I see a couple scratches that weren't too major but I see a big cut going down his palm.
Delilah: ouch! That's gotta hurt.
Parker: like a bitch.I chuckle as I start stitching.
Delilah: I know it hurts, I'm sorry.
Parker: mama didn't raise no bitch.I smirk at Parker as I keep stitching.
Delilah: what do you do for a living?
Parker: I'm a waiter at the Space Needle.
Delilah: that sounds amazing.
Parker: how long have you been living in Seattle?
Delilah: a couple of months, give or take. I moved here with my dad who's a surgeon here to have a fresh start.
Parker: you're close with your dad?
Delilah: he's my best friend. He raised me as a single father and he's the greatest role model in the world.
Parker: you're lucky, I haven't spoken to my parents in three years. I came out to them as bisexual and they completely disowned me.
Delilah: that's terrible. I'm very sorry.
Parker: it's whatever.
Delilah: are you happy now?
Parker: I am. I've been dating this amazing guy for over a year and a half, I have a great job with the best family ever and I finally figured out who I truly am.
Delilah: good for you.I finish up the stitches on his palm then I start stitching his other arm.
Delilah: have you been doing the Dead Baby Bike Race for a while?
Parker: no, this is only my second year doing it. Never again.
Delilah: yeah, I think all these stitches are a sign that you shouldn't do this anymore.
Parker: have you always known that you wanted to be a surgeon?
Delilah: yes I did. I was maybe... eleven or twelve years old when I knew I wanted to be a surgeon. I wanted to be just like my dad. From the beginning of high school until med school, I worked two jobs to put myself through college and med school. I applied to a bunch of places to do my internship. I could've easily done my internship in New York but I got the spot here so I couldn't pass it down.
Parker: you're from New York?
Delilah: born and raised.
Parker: Dallas, Texas. Born and raised. Then moved to LA for college, then moved here.
Delilah: I love that. Well, I'm all done stitching you up! I just need to wrap your palm and arm in some bandage, give you something for the pain and you can come back in a few weeks or so to get the stitches taken out.
