Chapter 5

"So you're telling me he has to make you fall in love with him?" Layla asked and I nodded

"Do you like him?" I nodded hesitantly

"Ok that's alot to take in"

"It's not that big of a deal" she looked at me

She snorted "Yeah right not a big deal"

She got a text and kept staring at her phone

"Ok I'm just going to get out" I opened the car door and got out

I entered the house and didn't hear aunt Linda she's probably at work

I heard the engine start and looked out of the window to see Layla's car leaving

Weird

I changed my clothes then decided to take nap

I woke up to my phone ringing

Damn I slept for so long it was 12 am now aunt Linda is probably sleeping

I looked at the caller ID to see it's Layla

"Hello?" I answered

"Can you come to the park near the house?" Her voice sounded off

"Uh sure?"

"Bye" she hung up

Weird

Ughhh I don't wanna get up

I walked around the park looking for Layla

"I'm here" I looked over to a bench to see layla

"What's wrong?" I asked as I walked towards her

As I got closer I noticed her eyes were puffy and tears stained her cheeks

"Layla what's wrong?"

"Everything" she whispered sniffing as tears started to form again

"I-i'll explain" she took a deep breath

"When we were talking in the car I got a text, it was from Beth a bitchy girl I had my physics class with. She sent me a photo of her with-" she closed her eyes and took another deep breath " with Caleb my....ex. Caleb is Xavier's other bestfriend he was my boyfriend of 3 years we dated since we were 14, he broke up with me 4 months before you came to California. He said it wasn't working for him, he said he didn't love me anymore anyway I haven't seen him in school ever since he broke up with me but today Beth sent me a photo of them kissing and later she posted another picture on social media tagging Caleb and saying 'best time with my boyfriend'" she sniffed "he moved on so fast Ri"

"Are you okay?" Of course she's not stupid Riley

"I'm not. I try and act like i moved on like I'm fine but I'm not Riley. No one knows how unhappy i am. Caleb was my life Riley. Everywhere I go I have memories with him even in this stupid park. I tried moving on, I really did, I went to parties, kissed guys, got drunk, went on dates but nothing made me move on and I hate myself for being so weak" she cried

Oh my God

And me moving to California after my parents death made her bottle up her emotions and hide them

I feel so selfish

I hugged her as she cried her heart out

"Is this why you hate Xavier?" She shook her head

"I don't hate Xavier I never talked to him, Caleb always tried to make us talk but Xavier would just leave he's been like that ever since I first met him"
