TW: mentions of death and blood.
Dream's vision was blurry and the metallic taste in his mouth wasn't too pleasant. He gathered all of his remaining strength and tried to move. He screamed in pain as he moved his head in the other direction to look at his friend.
Blaze was cut on his forehead by the sharp glass that flew from the broken window and his wound was bleeding like hell.
"Blaze! Are you okay?" Dream asked his friend.
Dream tried to shake him to wake up. He didn't move at all. He again shook him but no response.
"Hey! Talk to me!"
Blaze was sitting with his head on the steering wheel, bleeding like crazy, and his body was not moving. His head was not facing Dream, but the left window.
He touched Blaze's shoulder and said his name. But no response again. Dream started to panic and looked for a pulse.
He started crying and screaming as he couldn't find any, hoping that he is unconscious and he would open his eyes and talk again. But he didn't.He took off his seat belt and got out of the car. On the road he could see another car with the window shattered, and a man trying to get out of it. Dream went to the driver's door and opened it.
-------
In the ambulance's back there was a boy, sitting down, covered in a blue blanket. His eyes were puffy and red, tears running down his stitched face. If you took a picture of him in that moment and another one of him yesterday, you would wonder how that could be the same boy. He was now destroyed, crying for hours and begging god for this to not be true. In another car, there was his body. Blaze's body. The paramedics told Dream he couldn't make it because of the hit he took from the two cars crashing, but he didn't want to accept it. His friend, he was now gone and because of him, he was putting all the guilt on him, as always.
He felt responsible for what happened and blamed himself for letting Blaze drive him home. He was thinking of how stupid he was for not seeing it.
------
A few hours before the car accident, Dream, feeling sad, drove his car to his friend's house. He told Blaze what happened and he was offered a glass of alcohol which he didn't refuse.
He told him about George, about their conversation and how he didn't know what was happening to him. Blaze listened very careful to Dream and told him to go easy on himself. They got to talk to a few hours in which they drank a few glasses of alcohol.
Dream told him to stop because he couldn't drive back home if they kept it that way."Don't worry, Dream. I will drive you home, it's not very far from here." Blaze said.
"No, you drank too. You can't. I'll call my neighbour to come and pick me up."
"Man, listen. I only drank a glass, that's it. It's not even that much of a deal, trust me. My uncle is a cop, we won't get in trouble and I feel too fresh."
"I don't think it's a good idea, let me call him and he will be here in any minute."
"Hey! Trust me, okay? You don't want to get your neighbour to come here, it's too late. Plus it's 10 minutes from here, it's not even far away. I can do this, I've done it before."
----
He should have listened to his gut. Blaze should have listened to him. He knew it was wrong but he really put all of his trust in him, and look where it got them. One of them was gone and only because the other one couldn't talk him out of it. He felt like he was supposed to be in his place. Before they left, Blaze promised his little sister that he would come back quick to tell her her bedtime story. How could he promise? Now she is wondering where her brother went, why he's not coming to read the bedtime story, why he's not going to show up for breakfast or why he won't see her graduate primary school and grow older and taller.
