You wanted Benny with you so bad right now. He made you smile, made you happier and of course, he made you feel like you were special and loved by someone.
You woke up and took your dog out a little bit before noon, but it was mainly an excuse to pass by Benny's house. You were hoping to see him again.
You couldn't stop thinking about how he called you 'my love'. Those words made you the happiest person on the planet.
His house was plain. Nobody around it. No furniture on the porch either. You walked up to the front door and the welcome mat was gone. You opened the door curiously and it was empty. The house was completely deserted. Nothing that he owned was still inside. You didn't want to believe it but he was gone.
That goodbye from yesterday, was a 'forever' goodbye. Not a 'see you tomorrow' goodbye.
You didn't know what to do now. You couldn't forget about him.
"Benny... where did you go?" you said to yourself as you wiped your eyes.
It was completely quiet. You grabbed your dog and ran outside with tears running down your face. You sat down on the curb and cried quietly and to yourself.
"Y/N?" someone said.
You turned around and saw Scotty standing there with his arms behind his back. He had a sad look on his face. You stood up and wrapped your arms him comfortingly.
"Did you know?" you whispered.
"That he was leaving? No. He left us a each a note, including you" Scotty revealed a rose and a letter in his hands. He handed them to you and watched as you examined the envelope of the letter. In slightly smudged ink it wrote 'to Y/N, to who I never got to show my love for her, but I will always remember'.
"What did he write to you?" you asked Scotty.
"He just wrote about me being a great friend and that he'll miss me. But we all know that he put the most detail into your letter" he smiled.
You looked at the rose and you couldn't hold back tears when you saw a little charm sitting inside of it. You picked it out of the flower. It was a tiny square shaped charm that had a little picture of fireworks and at the bottom it said 'our first moment'. You covered your face with your hands and sobbed quietly. Scotty sat down beside you and put his arm around you.
"He'll be back for you one day. I know it."
You opened the envelope slowly. Your heart beating out of your chest. You started reading the first few words of the letter but then stopped and looked over at Scotty.
"Did he really love me?" you said.
"Y/N, he loved you more than anything and I know it! We all know it!"
You smiled and looked back down at the letter, taking a deep breath.
"Everything will be fine. Me and the rest of the boys will always be here for you" Scotty said before you started to read it again.
Dear Y/N,
I'm so sorry. I just couldn't tell you because it broke my heart to know that I was leaving you. Probably not forever because I want to see you. I'm so glad that you decided to hang out with us this summer. To be honest, it feels like we've been friends forever even if we just met this summer. I will never forget you, my love. I know that we're young, and people might tell us that we know nothing about love, but I believe that when it's true, it easy to recognize even if we're still kids. Thank you for the best summer ever.
