Evie's POV

"International themed Jeopardy?" Kai Hudson, this annoying American in our class, said to our social studies teacher. "That's not fair! Everyone in this class is from another country but me!"

"There's a 1 in 195 chance that our own countries are gonna get picked for this Jeopardy. We have as much of a chance as you." Mia Fernandez said from behind me. Kai groaned and the teacher split our class into four teams. By some miracle, me and my entire friend group plus Harley Phan were on one team.

"All of you passed middle school, right?" Lars Sua said, scanning the group. Grace Khatri rolled her eyes and said, "Would we even be here right now if we didn't pass?"

"True."

"Alright! Team names!" our teacher said.

"Murderous Political Snakes!" That was Kai, of course.

"Apples?" some girl with a French accent said.

"Annoyed Sophomores!" A boy wearing a T-shirt with the Russian flag on it said.

I looked to my friends and then Lars shouted out our team name.

"Majority Minority!" he screamed at the top of their lungs. Mia nodded and we all were laser-focused on the board to see the first question.

"Write it down even if it isn't ours." I whispered to Sunny Kobayashi, who had the whiteboard. She gave me a thumbs-up and then Lars read the question out loud to us and passed a sticky note to Harley, who was deaf.

"What country is home to the Eiffel Tower? Oh, this is easy, Sunny, buzz us in." Lars said. Sunny smacked her hand on the table and grimaced in pain and then the teacher said, "Majority Minority?"

"What is France?" Lars said. We got informed it was correct and Lars silently cheered. "Alright, next question. What is the population of Brazil?"

"Somewhere in the millions." Grace said.

"That's not an acceptable answer, Grace, we need an actual number." I said.

The French girl smacked her hand on the table and said, "What is 200 million people?"

"The correct answer was 211 million people, but I'll give it to you. 300 points for the Apples! Majority Minority, what's the category and what's the point value?"

Sunny stood up and smugly said, "Flags for 500 points, please." I groaned. I was horrible with memorizing country flags, all I knew for sure were Germany, the UK, and America.

And surprise surprise, it was a flag I didn't know.

"I KNOW THIS! I KNOW THIS!" Grace squealed. She banged her hand on the table and said, "WHAT IS GREENLAND?"

"NO NO NO GRACE NO!" Lars said, but it was too late.

"I'm sorry, that is incorrect. The correct answer is England. That leaves Majority Minority at a total of -100 points."

"Grace Middle-Name-Unknown Khatri." Lars said, turning around in their seat.

"It's Advika, means world in Hindi." Grace said.

"Well, that's an ironic name." I said under my breath.

"Shut up. Anyway, Grace, I'm hereby banning you from answering any more questions." Lars said sternly.

"Yeah, I figured." Grace put her legs on the desk and started typing on her phone. "Mia, you're on Grace duty."

"Why am I always on Grace duty? Sunny's sane enough!" Mia said. It was clear that we've all given up on the game.

"You're leaving Sunny in charge? She got suspended for shoving over a poor new girl in gym class and then calling her a sore loser in Japanese! And the only reason she got in trouble was because the girl she shoved over knew Japanese!" I said.

"Thank you, Mia, for giving my leadership skills a chance. Now Grace, mop the floor." Sunny said.

"This is carpet. You can't mop carpet." Grace said. Lars rolled it's eyes and said "That's the smartest thing Grace has said all day!"

"Jokes on you, I'm on Honor Roll for the term!" Grace said, sticking her tongue out at Lars.

"Wait a second..." Mia said, squinting at the board. "How the heck is our team...winning the game?"

"HARLEY!" we all yelled at the same time. Harley was laser-focused on the questions, and that girl got every single one of them right. Including the Final Jeopardy, which she wagered all our points for.

"WE WON!" Grace screamed, throwing her arms around her girlfriend and kissing her cheek. She passed Harley a sticky note reading I'm so proud of you! and Harley grinned upon reading it.

"This was fun. Now what's our prize?" Lars asked.

"You six are exempt from the Family History project next week!" our teacher said happily.

We all stared at each other and started groaning.

"WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT!" Grace screeched.

"I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE EXTRA HOMEWORK!" Mia yelled.

"Trust me, you don't, now take the prize and shush." Sunny said.
