I glanced at the clock. Shit! I thought as I stuffed the rest of my toast in my mouth. I was late for school.

"Rose, don't forget your bag again!" My mom yelled from the kitchen.

Of course I left it on the table. Jesus you're such a dumbass. I thought while I ran to the table. I grabbed my bag and bolted out the front door. As soon as I stepped out, I felt the chill. The crisp morning air against my face as I walked on the sidewalk. I put my phone in my bag pocket. I didn't have any pockets because of the stupid school uniform. Thankfully, I'm a junior. Just a couple years left. Well, this year is almost over, so a year left.

"Rosie, you walking today?" Someone yelled towards me.

I turned to look at who yelled it. It was Charlie. He was waving towards me. I started to cross the street to walk towards him.

"Rosie! You forget to look for cars!" Charlie yelled.

I looked to my left. A big bus was only 4 meters away. I ran to the other side of the road, where Charlie was.

"Jesus Rosie. You could've gotten ran over! You need to check for cars more often." Charlie said while holding my hand.

"Yeah, yeah." I said. My heart was about to beat out of my chest. I was shaking from the fear of getting ran over. "Well that was a small adrenaline rush." I said flatly.

"Rosie... You need to be more careful. I swear one day you will get yourself killed." Charlie said while looking me dead in the eyes.

"Anyways.. Can we walk to school now?" I asked. I looked away blushing. Why does he know he can make me blush with a stupid look. I thought. I was looking at the cracked sidewalk when I started walking forward.

"Let's go then!" Charlie exclaimed. He gripped my hand harder and pulled me.

Why does he walk so fast dude. I can barely keep up, and I walk pretty fast myself. I thought while Charlie was basically dragging me.

"So how's that crush on Melany going?" Charlie asked. He had a smug look on his face.

"Oh shut up. Shes not into me anyways. Shes straight, remember?" I say. I tried to hide my face from him. I couldnt let him know I was blushing again.

"Oh come on now. Arent you both friends?" Charlie asked. Of course he looked me dead in the eyes again.

"Yeah.. She doesn't know I'm pan though Charlie! She's homophobic. Of course I tried to stop liking her after that." I said. I took my hand and tried to move the hair out of Charlie's eyes. He doesn't like people seeing his eyes, except me. We've known each other since we were both 9. We pretty much grew up together after that. "Your eyes are very pretty Charlie." I said looking into them.

"Thanks.." Charlie said. He continued to walk, but kept his hair out of his eyes. His face was a bright red.

I started to run after him since he left me behind. I forgot the sidewalks had big cracks in them. My foot hit one of the cracks and got stuck. I don't know how, but it kind of just happened. I ended up falling. All I remember is hitting the pavement and hearing Charlie scream my name. My vision went black.
