"Who do we have here?" His hazelnut voice holds authority sending a shiver through my spine, who is he?
"None of your business." I spit at him, I have no idea who he is and I don't trust him. He could be here to kill me, why should I tell him who I am? From meeting him and his gloriousness, I've been drawn to him but I feel this endless resentment towards him, I have no idea why I feel this way.
"Feisty, I like it," His eyes glow with untold truth, then his whole demeanour changes. "Who the fuck are you and what are you doing on royal pack lands bitch?" He spits back at me, gosh damn he is hot. I mentally slap myself, I shouldn't be thinking about his shirtless, drool-worthy body. Stop it! The man's eyes twinkle with mischief and his smirk only grows further looking amused at me, like he can read my thoughts. Shit. Can he read my thoughts? My eyes widen, shit shit shit. Wait a minute.. Pack lands? As in werewolf lands as in those mini civilisations that are filled with werewolf creatures that hunt and kill anything and everything in sight that is not of their species?
"Woah woah.. Pack lands? What are pack lands?" I act oblivious to his true world, hoping this will get me out of here and not torn to shreds by his alpha.
This only seems to annoy the man further, like he knows I'm hiding the truth.
"Don't act oblivious, I know you know about werewolves. Now answer my question. Who the fuck are you?" Maybe I should tell him. No... I shouldn't.
I push myself up from the ground, I don't like being in the weaker position. My eyes stay glued to his brown eyes as I walk closer to him. I put on my best smile and he narrows his eyes at me, as if he knows I'm up to something, but truth be told I have no idea what I'm doing.
I'm a foot away from the man and I blink. He is even more handsome up close, all his impurities are beautiful. A small scar, only visible from this distance runs along his left eyebrow. He gulps at our close proximity as my heartbeat speeds up.
I take another step until my chest touches his, he gulps again. Suddenly aware of the effect I have on him, I smile a victorious smile. I bring my hand up to the nape of his neck, tingles erupting over my entire body, I ignore them. He tenses under my touch. My hand slides down his well defined unclothed chest, my fingertips glide over the slightly sweaty surface of his unblemished skin.
I take this moment of distraction to my advantage and grasp the back of his neck with my other hand, and knee him hard in his family jewels. His eyes scrunch as he lets out a groan and leans over. He lets out an animalistic growl, only low enough for me to hear. I step back from him and let out a sigh of victory, marvelling in the beauty of his hunched over form.
He looks up at me, his eyes swirling with something dark as he lets out another growl. He looks pissed. Good. Let him be pissed. I angle my head to the right slightly. Staring straight into the depths of my eyes, he growls again. God what is it with this man and growling?
He launches himself at me, too quick for me to comprehend. My eyes widen, it's too late to dodge now that I'm falling straight onto the solid forest floor. Only for my hair to gain more twigs and leaves. My head makes contact with the forest floor, the impact making my head lift and fall again. The man's eyes search my own as he presses himself onto me. Legs either side of me, keeping me restrained. He presses his forearm against my throat.
He grins knowing he's got the upper hand this time. I can't move my body, he's so heavy.
I try to wiggle out of his restraint but he only puts more of his weight onto me. Judging from the look in his eyes, he wants me to stop. That only makes me wiggle more. He presses his arm further into my neck.
"Stop moving." He growls into my ear, his voice dark and husky.
"No." I spit at him, he gulps again and moves his forearm from my neck to wipe the saliva from his face. Two can play this game. Noticing my legs are no longer restrained, I bring my knee up once again. He seems to notice before I even move and removes himself from my body. He flips my body so fast I can't fight back. I continue to lay on the forest floor, only this time I face it. He gets back onto my body, pressing himself onto me again but from behind. He brings his hand up to the front of my neck and grips it, hard. He lowers his head next to my ear once again.
"I'm not going to ask you again. Who are you?" His minty breath fans my skin, making my hairs stand on end.
"Who do you think you are? I was minding my own business in the forest and I woke up and you're watching me. You're a creep, and I'm not answering to you."
"You are trespassing on royal pack lands. You will answer me, I am to be your alpha... Mate." He spits at me with a devilish smirk. He irritates me to no end. Wait a second. Mate? As in his soulmate? Hell no.
"I will not be your ma-" He cuts me off by placing his hand over my mouth.
"Don't lie to me mate, we are destined whether I like it or not." He speaks to me, as if in disbelief that he has been destined to be with a human. He sighs, still next to my ear. He lifts his weight off me and stands next to me. I roll over on the ground and glare up at him with the utmost evil look I can muster.
"You look ridiculous, get up." He stares down at me, amusement clear in his eyes.
"No." I will not move, just because he ordered me to.
The man shrugs. "Okay." A boyish grin spreads across his face. He leans over and picks me up, throwing me over his shoulder, too quick for me to comprehend. He grips my legs in order to prevent me from falling off.
"Let me go!" I ball my hands into fists and hit the man's back repeatedly, he could be trying to kill me! "You could be a murderer for all I know! I don't even know you!"
"Denzel." He says, as if it is supposed to have a meaning.
"What?" I don't understand this god of a man.
"Denzel, that's my name. Now you know me." Damn him. I huff as I continue to hit his back, not catching his attention, I change my tactic and flatten my hands. My hand comes into contact with his behind, creating a loud sound. Denzel as I now know his name to be stops straight in his tracks.
"Why did you smack my ass?" He asks as if having a normal conversation.
"Why won't you put me down?"
"Because you don't know the way to my pack, and you're a slow walker."
"How do you know I'm a slow walker?" I narrow my eyes at anything I can look at. I am vastly offended. I am a fast walker.
"I saw you." Okay he is creepy. I make a face at his back. He starts walking again, further into the darkening forest.
"You're a creep. Let me down." He moves his hand up to the back of my thigh, keeping me from moving so much.
"No." He starts to run, making me jostle and knock my head several times into his back. He grips my thigh tighter, his nails digging into my jeans. I sigh and give up. I'm not going to be able to get down on my own anytime soon.
After five minutes, the forest gives way to something completely unexpected, a small city. A concealed city that I had never seen before. Now this isn't your average city, there are no skyscrapers, just highly advanced buildings.. And a lot of them. Only then does he let me down.. By dropping me on the grass.
"We're here. Follow me and don't stray." He starts walking without waiting for me to get up, I scramble to my feet, my mouth dry. A whole city that the human world doesn't even know about. I run over to him as he walks calmly into the small city.
"What is this place?" I say to him as I catch my breath, now walking next to him and trying to keep up with his long strides.
"My pack."
I look around the city wide eyed. People walk down the busy streets of this concealed city laughing with one another, no single person walking alone. No one is excluded. Next I look at the buildings, all mainly wooden except for the few stone ones, an aged city landscape. People holding shopping bags after a long day, people sitting in coffee shops at the window talking animatedly to each other. Trees stand tall and proud in the middle of the busy dirt roads as I continue walking through the crowds of people, Denzel by my side. Everyone mutters something to Denzel after bowing their heads at him like he's some sort of royalty. I continue walking straight, but Denzel has other ideas as he grabs a hold of my upper arm and drags me to the left, down a more private path.
We continue walking for what feels like forever, passing more and more cottage-like buildings that become more scarce, passing more and more trees that grow more dense as we walk. Walking past a clearing of trees that hold many more of the population, they are fighting each other one on one. We continue walking until we stand in front of the most beautiful house I've ever seen. Gardens surround the entire estate, accompanied by tall black gates. The house itself is magnificent, a wooden house with some accents of slightly darker wood slabs. A dark gray tone roof on top with multiple chimneys.
"Stay here and don't move. I need to talk to someone." Denzel announces after not speaking this entire walk. I nod my head at him, and he disappears into the house. This city captivates me. It is truly a beautiful landscape and I can't wait to explore further. I mean, I could have a little look now.. Right? Yeah, it won't take long at all. A small smile graces my face as I turn away from the house and start walking to the area where all those people were fighting each other, it looked fun and I wouldn't mind learning what they were.
I finally arrive at the fighting grounds and sit on the grass, assessing their well practiced moves and speed. I get lost in watching them that I don't even notice someone sit down beside me.
"And who might you be? I haven't seen you in this pack before." The unknown man speaks, a nice gentle and trustworthy voice, far from Denzel's husky one. I look at him, instantly noticing his bright blue eyes and friendly smile. I feel like I can trust him, and I've only just met him.
"Davina, and you are?"
"Ethan Hargreeves, Royal Beta of Alpha King Denzel." Ah the Alphas posse.
"Nice to meet you Ethan." His eyes twinkle with amusement once I call him Ethan, was I meant to call him something else? Ethan stands up and looks down at me while offering me his hand. His eyes scan over my bruised neck, his eyes flash with some sort of emotion that I can't decipher.
"We best get you back to the Alpha King." He offers a warm smile as I take his hand.
He helps me up then lets go of my hand, putting his in his suit pant pockets. I wonder why he is dressed so formally. We start heading back to where I came from, only this time we pass the building Denzel left me at.
"Denzel left me here, shouldn't we wait for him here?" I look to Ethan.
"It seems Alpha King Denzel had some work to complete, he has just finished his assigned work and asked for me to retrieve you." For his seemingly young age, he sure speaks like he's from the 1900's.
I continue to look at Ethan, not paying any attention to my surroundings as I walk into a wall. I pry my eyes away from Ethan and look at what I walked into, much to my dismay it wasn't a wall, in fact it was something much worse. My mood instantly drops as I see Denzel staring down at me with a cocky smirk gracing his face.
"Maybe you should pay attention to where you walk, Davina." My name slides gracefully off his tongue, like my name was made for him.
"Maybe you shouldn't get in my way when I'm walking, I would've been fine if you hadn't shown up." My chest still touching his after walking into him, I look up into his eyes, a head above mine, only now have I noticed how tall he truly is. A drop of water hits my nose, his hair is wet. My fingers itch to brush his loose strands away
from his perfectly sculpted face. I lose myself in his dark gaze, his eyes swirling with the same darkness they were when we were still in the forest.
Someone coughs behind us and we both blink, not wanting the moment to end but I step back and clear my throat, Denzel appearing to do the same no doubt.
"I think you are forgetting to introduce her to the pack Alpha."
Denzel coughs lightly again and brushes the back of his neck with his hand, the other lost in his suit pocket. "Right. Welcome to the Shadow Moon Pack Davina." With that he walks away from me.
"He usually does this, he actually wants you to follow him." Well how the hell am I supposed to know that? I start walking toward Denzel and turn back to Ethan, lifting a hand to wave at him, but he's already gone.
