"So we meet again," she says.
He stares at her in the middle of the battle field. He would be lying if he says that he did not look forward to meeting her again. Fighting her in the battle field was like sparring with an old friend, one he has not met in a long time.
Except, up until yesterday, he has never met her before.
"Pity I can't spare you."
"That is, if you can even beat me," she says.
He strikes.
They fight like there will be no tomorrow, as if they are both fighting for their lives. In some ways, they are. She is her father's daughter and her father sent her out to fight, to conquer his kingdom.
And he is his mother's son and his mother (and his people) depends on him to defend their kingdom.
They will do what they must do, even if it means killing the other.
"Maybe in another life, we wouldn't have to come to this," she says.
"Perhaps so."
