Alex and Pedro headed over to their broom.

"Wish we were on a thestral." He said, looking at the broom in distaste.

"You'd trust me to not throw you off?"

"Never mind." She laughed.

"Hermione doesn't much like brooms either."

"That's because she is smart."

"Flying is fun. Flying on a broom, more fun. It's easier to control."

"Do you like quidditch?"

"Nope." She grimaced. "Hate it."

"All right, then." Moody said. "Everyone ready, please. I want us all to leave at exactly the same time or the whole point of the diversion's lost."

"Come on then, Pedro. Show me what you've got."

"Why don't you fly the broom, and I can use magic to protect us?" He offered.

"I thought you weren't that great at defense."

"I'm not horrible. Just don't think I could teach it." He corrected. She shrugged.

"Harry's not supposed to know where he's going. He wouldn't be the primary flyer." Alex told him. "Come on. I'll help you. It'll be a bonding activity."

"Till you push me off." He grumbled but mounted the broom. Alex settled herself behind him.

"Just trust me." She told him. He grimaced.

"Good luck, everyone!" Moody shouted. "See you all in about an hour at the Burrow. On the count of three. One ... two... THREE!"

Pedro pushed off and the broom jerked forth. He almost immediately leaned to the right and forgot to grip the broom properly, almost falling off.

"I thought I was supposed to push you off the broom. Can't do that if you throw us both off." She said helping him right it.

"I'm not so good with brooms." He told her.

"I'll coach you. Hold on tightly to the space in front of you." He did as she said. "Good. When you're turning, briefly lean over. You don't go totally to the side. Brooms are instinctive. They're very delicate."

"Okay, got that." He told her.

"To go faster, hug your body down to the broom." She said, before noticing a curse aimed at them. "Duck!"

Pedro ducked down and she leaned forward, reaching over to grab hold of the broom. She nudged it to the left and then the right so that they could swerve to dodge the curse. It harmlessly fell over their shoulders and several more deatheaters made themselves known. "Merda." Pedro swore.

"Language!" Alex scolded. "And relax."

"I should have told Moody I can't fly on a broom. I should've asked for a thestral."

"It's too late for regrets, Pedro. We need to focus on survival. Lean about thirty degrees to the left." She told him and did the same. The broom was more amenable to their turn this time allowing them to dodge another spell.

"Thank you." He told her.

"Yeah, whatever. It's gonna get a little hairy now. We're going to try to avoid them. Don't worry about defense, I've got that covered. We're going to go above them and then immediately nosedive down when we pass them."

"What? I can't do that."

"Yes you can. To go up, nudge the broom to the sky and lean back onto me. Stop when you're against my chest."

"If we're flying over them, won't that make it easier for them to curse us?"

"Like I said. Leave the defense to me." She said. "No more time to chat. Now!"

The broom jolted up into the sky, and Alex called on Doomie to enforce a protection charm around them. Spells bounced harmlessly off her shield and she nudged Pedro down. He leaned forward and she helped him angle the broom downwards.

"Meu deus! You're going to kill us! You're going to kill us!" (My god!) He yelled.

"Just relax." She said and reached forward to grab hold of the broom and tilted it up. Pedro started rapidly cursing in Portuguese and she rolled her eyes. The manoeuvre had caused three death eaters to crash leaving three more still on their tail. Pedro turned around and paled as he saw three more still behind them.

"What are you going to do next?" He asked.

"Relax. They've been so focused on us, they don't even know where they're going."

"Which is where?" He asked.

"I don't know. Some place muggle, probably. We passed our safe house a couple minutes back."

"What?!"

"Relax!"

"Stop telling me to relax. Where are we going?"

"When I say so, tilt as far right as you can."

"We're going to fall off if I do that." Alex rolled her eyes and cast a sticking charm on the broom.

"There. Now we won't." She said. "Don't be a pansy. Now!" Pedro leaned as far right as he could without upending the broom and Alex did the same. "Okay, now right yourself!" She told him as they faced the right direction.

"We have two minutes until the portkey activates." He told her.

"Then let's go fast." She said and pushed him down as close to the broom as he could be. "Clench your legs as hard as you can to the broom."

"Have I told you how much I hate you?" He asked and she simply grinned as they zoomed to the safe house. She was pretty sure they'd lost their tails.

Alex undid the sticking charm and jumped off the broom before it even reached the ground. Pedro glared at her, but got off quick enough.

Two aurors stood in the doorway as Alex and Pedro approached. They looked around for death eaters and Alex shook her head.

"We're fine. We had some death eaters behind we had to get rid of, but we lost them." Alex informed. The aurors stepped to the side and Alex and Pedro were ushered in.

"Portkey's the torch on the table. You have about fifteen seconds." One spoke and the cousins rushed inside. The torch was beginning to glow and Alex and Pedro grabbed hold of it.

They landed at the burrow, Alex solidly on her feet as Pedro stumbled.

"I am never partnering with you again. You're insane!" He grumbled. "You tried to kill us."

"Don't be so dramatic."

"Dramatic? Were you not on the same broom I was?"

"Are you alive?"

"I think so."

"Are you hurt?"

"No." He reluctantly admitted.

"Then I fail to see the problem." Alex walked away. Pedro clenched his fists and took a few calming breaths.

A/N- Alex basically now exists to annoy Pedro till he goes insane 😭 Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
