Rejection doesn't mean you're not good enough; it means the other person failed to notice what you have to offer
"Rome, hey. Long time."
Long time.Long time? She just showed up at my house last week giving me that irritating innocent face.
I clear my throat, drawing my attention away from her and back to my work that I think I won't finish anytime soon since I have an unwanted guest. My jaw clenches when I hear my name roll out her tongue again. My grip tightens on my pen.
"Why are you here? I made it clear last time to stay away." I remind her.
"Roman, I- I don't think it's easy, I mean Roya-"
I pinch the bridge of my nose already knowing where this is going, "If this is about Royalty then-"
"Listen to me for on-"
"Listen to what?" I hit my fist on my desk, not minding the pain. "Listen to what Liz? Listen to your made up lies!"
"You are being selfish, Rome. She's my daughter. I gave birth to her, not like you were even there when I was in labor, the pain I went through bringing her to this world. You rejected her Rome, I remember the day I announced to you I was carrying your child, I remember it vividly." I waited for her to continue. No, like she should go on.
I place my palm on my jaw having been caught by her attention. "Rome please hear me out for once.
"You do not understand the pain and regret I feel every moment of my life rejecting Royalty. Think about it, Rome and you know one day, she'll ask you for me. She'll want to know her mother. It's not fair, you're keeping her to yourself."
Okay I must admit what I just heard was a bit touching. But then come to think of it, it's Liz we're talking about, right?
"Say something." She whispers.
I looked sideways to meet her bloodshot eyes, I had not even noticed she had been so close to me.
"Typical Liz." I groan.
"So uh... What's your say?"
"In what?" I grit my teeth, I can't believe I'm letting her in.
"In this "
"THIS WHAT?" I spat, I felt her shudder and stumble backwards a bit. "You can take your leave, Miss Doherty."
"Is that all you're gonna say about Rome?" She screams.
I glance at the door, biting my lower lip, "For your information, yes."
I didn't hear anything from her anymore and I even had to turn to her to make sure she didn't go to another level of her craziness. I cannot trust her.
"I'll do whatever it takes to see my daughter."
I gave her an uninterested look, "Go on. Do whatever it takes to see your daughter." I mock her, "What are you waiting for? But when you're done with your- season film, the door is right there." I nod at my door, resuming back to my computer screen.
"Why are you like this Roman? You never think of anyone else but yourself? So selfish and arrogant.''
"Tell me more, it's quite interesting." For the first time in years, I smirk at her.
"See you next time, Rome."
With that, she did what I've been waiting for.Walking through that door.
