AND THUS IT BEGAN

CHAPTER 15

ADRIANA :

    It had been a couple of weeks since the incident in his office, I had done my best to avoid him as much as possible but it was now proven to be difficult considering the fact that we now lived together.

Two weeks back I noticed that Sophie had began to find it difficult in adjusting with the back and forth movement between our house and her father's house, eventually Marco had thought it would be best if we moved in together and without arguments I had agreed, it's not like I enjoyed the neighborhood we lived at and secondly I had a whole suite to myself here so there was no reason for me to be stubborn, thankfully technology was making communication between my staff and I pretty easy so it was a win win situation for everyone.

Speaking of staff, i had decided to retain the diner regardless of the fact that I wasn't even in the same environment anymore, it's not that the thought hadn't crossed my mind yet but I decided against it because it was all I had to remember ma'am Maggie, it was also the the place that made me who I am today, it saw me through my lowest, my highest, angrier and happiest moments, the diner was my safe place so I couldn't bring myself to loose it.

So business wise my plan was to expand and probably dive into other areas, at this point in my life I didn't need to be at a place anymore which means I could leave the diner in a professional managerial team while I pursued other branches.

Apart from my decision to expand, Marco and I agreed to make Sophie a silent partner in the diner and probably any other business ventures I might pursue from here on out, I asked why he suggested the idea and his reply was that with Sophie's new interest for cooking he wanted her to have a headstart in case she chose to make a career out of it.

I thought it was a good idea too hence the reason she now owned 30% shares of the business for the funds Marco recently saved in her name, my daughter was richer than me and I couldn't be any happier, I was proud that she had more financial stability than any kid I know. And all that at the age of five.

Yes, my baby turned five today even if she's an adult in mind, thought and actions.
Preparations were made by Luca who was so excited when he found out that Sophie not only shared a birthday with his daughter but they were turning five together.

Honestly they were basically twins, so alike you could never believe they were only cousins,
Sadly Luciana's mom died during childbirth hence leaving Luca as her only parent, thankfully he had me now so I was doing everything in my power to reduce the stress, I knew how hard they were working so he could use all the help he could get.

Right now I made myself comfortable at the far end of the room all alone with my glass of champagne while I watched my daughter open gifts after gifts from so many people I lost count.

this has to be the best birthday she had ever celebrated because then it was always just us, a cake and a bunch of gifts I will get her, sometimes she got gifts from the people in the Diner but that was it.

standing here and watching her smile so wide her cheeks had to hurt was a dream come true and I think it made me consider taking Marco back, he did everything for our daughter to experience a normal and perfect birthday and in my book that was all the clue needed to know that he was trying and he wanted to be there for us.

   "Thank you"
He sinful deep voice whispered behind me.

   "For What?"
I replied staring at the beautifully made man before me.

   "For You and For Giving me Sophie"
He replied with his gaze now shifted from me to our beautiful princess, he looked at her with so much love I wanted to cry in joy.

  "I know I wasn't there every step of the way, I also know that I have a million and one things to make up for but I jope you believe me when I say that I want to try, I want to be present in both your lives, I want to be Sophie's dad and mostly I want to be your man in every sense of the word, I want to step up and be the center of your life like I used to but with Sophie this time because you are still the center of my existence Catherina, I will wait for as long as you need but just please give me a chance in the end"

It was moments like this that reminded me of a time when I couldn't imagine a future without him.
I know that the years had been good to him physically but my Marco was no longer the same, experience had made him cold, his eyes now held more darkness and fury, his wrath now swiftly dealt to those who got on his bad side, it was terrifying but in the end I still loved him and I planned on making him the Marco I used to know before life happened and shit went south.

   "No more Women, No more Secrets, you tell me when it's too hard, No drugs in our house, I can't have the kids snuffing shit, No more late nights unless it's a mission or a trip, but most importantly Marco Romano DeLuca you always come home to me, even if you got a bullet to the chest you find your way back to me cause it's us against the world, always was and always will be, Si' ?"

     (Yes?)

Without warning his soft lips crashed on mine with a pant wetting kiss that held so much promise and appreciation I was stunned.

Finally he pulled away and led me back to the party where a lot of the kids were already half standing and half asleep while Sophie and Luciana were passed out on top of their cakes that I have no idea how it got to the floor.

I immediately called Luca and Marco to help me take them to their room while I helped clean up so it would be easier for everyone tomorrow.

Sometime later I wal worked in only to find them talking the kids in their bed Luciana had passed out already while Sophie stretched out her arms for me to come over.

I smiled at her then walked over but not before asking the boys to go ahead, once I was close enough she pulled me into a hug and began whispering how I was the best mom in the world and soon enough she was passed out as well.

I smiled at her sweetness before walking away with only one thought in mind.

   I have been b with the best things of life and I planned to keep them that way.
