July 8th
Dear Diary,
Today was the day that Jack would be coming over to my house. I worked out a time yesterday for him to meet me, a little while after we talked.
I ran to the park around noon today. Jack better be there. I thought. When I arrived, I saw him sitting on the fountain. God, he's cute.
"Jack!" I called, running to him.
"Y/N!" He was in a nice white tuxedo. I've seen him dress in such nice clothes. I didn't know he had any.
I pecked his lips. "Don't you look nice today?" I said, laughing, "where did you get that tuxedo?"
"Oh! One of my friends let me borrow it for today."
"That was sweet of them. Are you ready to go?" I said.
"Yup!" He said, sweely.
"Okay. I'll lead the way."
When we got to my house, I took my key and unlocked the door.
"After you, love." He smiled.
"Aw, thanks, Jack." We walked in and I put the keys in the basket. "Hello, mother! Jack and I are here!"
My mother came jogging into the room, very happy. "Hi!" She gave me a hug and looked at Jack. They shook hands. "It's so nice to meet you, Jack. Y/N has talked so much about you." She winked at me and I rolled my eyes. Jack looked at me out of the corner of his eyes and smiled.
"Come in! Come in." My mother said, leading us to the living room. We sat down on the couch and Jack wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
The first question my mother asked us was the question I didn't want to hear. "So, are you two dating?"
"Uhm," I started and Jack looked at me with a worried expression. "Yes, we are, actually. Since, like yesterday. And I know that sounds stupid, but I actually kissed him the time we were going to the store and," I paused, not wanting to mention this, "and father pushed him on the ground."
She grinned. "Well that's very nice."
Jack put his head on my shoulder and I kissed his forehead.
I heard the door unlock. No. I sat up, almost letting Jack fall onto the couch. "Sorry, love."
"What's wrong?"
"My father's here."
My father came into the room. I was standing up right by the door, so Jack wouldn't have to face him. But he was the first one to be looked at.
"Why is he here?"
"Jack, I think you should leave."
"He isn't leaving. You better stay put, boy. You're not going anywhere." Jack didn't say anything. He sunk into the couch. "My first question is, are you two in love?"
"Yes, father. We are, and that is all you should know."
He walked over to Jack and immediately hit him. He began to shake and I gasped. "You have the nerve-" I grabbed my father's suit and instantly regretted it. He stared at me intensely. I let go and he turned back to Jack.
"You better get off this property right now, boy. You better not come back. Ever." He went over to Jack, who was still shaking. He got up and walked past me, without saying a word. I heard the door slam when he walked out. My father came back over to me.
"Why did you go against my rule? I told you to not see him again, and here you are, dating him. You know how I feel about that."
"I don't think that you should control my love life! I should be able to fall in love with whoever I want. I don't think I have to follow all your rules about who I should be with, what kind of job I should get, and how I should live my life. You are strict, pathetic and narcissistic. Just like your own father."
He widened his eyes at me and furrowed his brow. "Go to your room. Now. And don't come down until I tell you to."
I ran up to my room and slammed my door.
Why is he the way he is? Why can't he just let me live my life? He even runs my mothers life and she is so much older than me! It isn't fair. I bet it's because I'm a girl. He must hate women.
I plopped onto my bed and shoved my face into my pillow. My throat started to hurt. My tears weren't coming out. Why? I needed to cry.
Then I thought of Jack and I started to sob. I couldn't take it anymore. I'm not good enough for him. I thought of what he said. His voice echoed through my head:
Everyone wants to be perfect, but no one is perfect. We all have our flaws and we all have ways we can fix them, but more might come back or form. No one will ever be perfect.
No one will ever be perfect.
No one.
Ever.
