I sat outside a hospital room, bent over with mhm hands covering my face. Jeremy was next to me, passed out and snoring.
The door to the room MJ mother was staying in clicked open, and Melissa McCall walked out, shutting the door quietly. I stood up quickly, turning to the close door.
"Is she okay?" I whispered as Melissa looked down at her notepad.
"I'm sorry, Dean... she had a stroke. I'm afraid she can't come home." She me a remorseful look as I inhaled sharply. Tears stinger my eyes but they wouldn't fall.
"Can I— Can I see her?" I asked as she shook her head.
"She's sleeping, right now. I'll call you when she wakes up." Melissa walked away.
I slowly sat back down, running a hand through my hair and turning to Jeremy, shaking him gently. "Jeremy... wake up." I whispered as he groaned softly, squinting due to the bright hospital lights.
He yawned, rubbing his eyes. "What?" He mumbled, looking up at me with confusion.
"Mom is gonna stay here for a while. It's time to go home." I forced a brave face on as he yawned again, slowly standing up.
I rushed myself to get out of the hospital, Jeremy speed walking to catch up to me. The two of us got in the car and I almost sped off, my head turning to see Stiles Stilinski's Jeep.
My mind raced about why he would be in the hospital before I realized that Lydia Martin was still recovering from the animal attack. They must be friends or in a relationship, otherwise him being there would just be kinda weird.

Later that night...
I sat on the chair facing my window, but this time I didn't light the candle. My hand was holding my head up and my elbow rested on the arm of the chair as I watched the moon very slowly rise up.
My door creaked open and I turned, seeing Jeremy staring at me. "Can you read me a story?" He asked as I sighed, nodding.
"Alright. C'mon buddy, let's get to bed." I followed him to his bedroom, going to grab a random story book before he stopped me.
"A story you make up." Jeremy slipped under his blankets as I hummed, sitting at the end of his bed.
"Everything has an opposite." I started as he rested his head on his hand. "It's other half, it's other side. The dark and the light. The day and the night. The false and the true... the old, and the new. A perfect pair of polar opposites, and yet, not one can exist without the other. Up and down, smile and frown. For better, or for worse. A blessing... and a curse. What would one be, if not for the other? The future and the past, the first and the last. Body and soul, a half and a whole."
Slowly, Jeremy's eyes started to shut as I smiled weakly. "So I suppose, you are my opposite. My perfect half, my perfect balance. The happy to my sad and the good to my bad. The lock to my key. Always, you and me." Jeremy smiled warmly as I patted his calf.
"You're a good brother, Jeremy. And my best friend. I love you." I messed his hair up and he chuckled, fixing his position to be more comfortable.
"I love you too, Dean. Good night."
"Goodnight."

There were things I wish I could stop from happening. My dad's death, my mother's sickness, and my lack of friendship.
But the days that were ahead of me was something I'd never want to change. But if I'm being honest...
I'd have never changed myself if it weren't for Derek Hale.
A/N: sorry for the short chapter I didn't know what to write 😀
