The smell of food filled the room. Its comforting aroma attracted curious trackers around the home as they tried identifying the source of this divine smell from some feet away or so.
His mouth beginning to water, Erwin's small hunger soon became more aware for him as he closed his book to stand up and open the door of his bedroom; taking a deep breath in and exhaling through his nose before closing his door behind him to head downstairs.
Carefully walking down the small flight of stairs; ranging only around twelve of them, Erwin looked over in the kitchen to see his mother beginning to fully complete a family recipe of there's. Hasenpfeffer...
Just thinking of the warm German Rabbit Stew made his stomach rumble. Identifying the source of the beautiful smell, Erwin licked his lips in his craving; looking over yearningly at a few completed bowls while he made his way down the last few steps.
Helping himself gratefully for his given dish, he thanked his mother before joining his father at the table; Henry and Mari coming down together not long after Erwin.
"Hey dad?" Norferd, hearing his son's question, looked up. Holding his fork halfway up while looking inquisitively up with his own brown eyes, his glasses neatly rested on his strong nose bridge.
"Hmm?""Do you and ma know what public schools we'll be attending tomorrow?" Setting down his fork back on his plateful of food, Norferd nodded.
"Yes, your mom and I were discussing this a few days prior to our final decision. You and Mari will be going to BearMont High school. If Angeline will be able to attend, she'll be joining a week later. After she's recovered as much as she can, that is."
"What about our schedules? We don't know where classes are located, let alone know what they are," Erwin pointed out, gratefully bringing up a mouthful of the stew as he listened to his father's response.
"We have that all taken care of. Yesterday I went to register you two with classes that I think you'll find good and promising. They did have German courses, but only up to level three. I wasn't sure if that'll be helpful or not, saying you've already got very strong fluency in this language."
Nodding, Erwin understood.
"What of the other courses?"Smiling, as Norferd knew his son would always jump one more step ahead before he even got there, Norferd answered his son's curiosity nonetheless.
"The standard ones. Math, Science, English, History. I've requested for you to be placed into Gym Class too, I have a good feeling you'll like that one, Erwin." Leaning forward with interest, Erwin left his food alone temporarily as he began asking more similar questions.
"What kind of sports do they have?" and or, "are there any team sports available?" were a few of them. Norferd calmly answered all of his son's questions, smiling to himself knowing he chose the right course for Erwin.
This'll be good for him, Erwin's been pretty down for a while now when Harald has left. I'm glad Harald is a good brother to him, Norferd thought to himself, as it was true.
When Harald had left around two weeks ago, Erwin's usually lively, talkative personality had decreased quite a bit; to both Norferd and Malissa's concern.
This was a new pace, to Norferd's delight, happy to see his son's lively personality gradually coming back to normal.
"Were you in a public school when you were my age, dad?" Curiously taking in the new train of questions, Norferd nodded.
