Falling For You

Chapter 58

Riff,Toki and LJ are standing somewhere away from the market. This area of the village is more calmer and less crowded than the market. They are surrounded by a few mushroom, two trees and many different buildings for trolls. Riff,Toki and LJ are standing next to tree. Riff listens carefully as LJ and Toki start explaining.

" So Supergirl started talking about Poppy being on 'holiday' and said that it was weird that Poppy didn't send a postcard to the Snack Pack or his mom yet. It took us off guard...", Toki explains honestly.

" Then she got a little suspicious of our reactions so we lied to her. Toki told her she was just reminded of an whale. I told her that I remembered that I had do something later. Supergirl asked more questions about what I had to do so I told the first thing that came to mind...",LJ explains honestly.

Riff listens carefully to her cousin and friend. So they were just trying to avoid giving away information? It is good that they did that since if Supergirl found out the truth about Poppy's whereabouts it could put The Strings under more difficulty. But, Riff is still confused about something. She looks at cousin blankly.

"What did you tell her?",Riff simply asks.

Now LJ doesn't feel sure how Riff is going to react with what she is about to say. She knows even if Riff got upset and angry with her it wouldn't last too long but, still telling lie using your cousin and their love interest can be a tricky path sometimes. LJ didn't normally feel nervous like this over a lie but, she does feel a little nervous now. The Rock troll decides it will be better to fill Riff in rather than she founding out from someone else.

" Don't worry too much about this but, I told them I promised to help you to speak up more about your lovey dovey feelings towards Barb... it's no biggie really. I made everyone at the table not to say a word about it to you or Barb or anyone else so no problems. ",LJ says honestly and trying to be reassuring.

Toki looks at Riff nervous of her reaction. Toki wouldn't blame her if she starts freaking out. Riff's brain psuses immediately as her eyes widen largely  and her jaw drops a little from shock! She couldn't believe that LJ told them about Barb! She thought nobody knew about that! She never told LJ about her feelings for Barb! Riff simply stares at LJ and Toki blinking every now and then.

Toki becomes uncomfortable with the staring. She starts stranching her arm a little as looks down at the grass. Toki can still feel the staring. LJ however just looks at Riff waiting for her to just snap out of her freeze or say something. The hunter just continues to stare with her blank expression for another few minutes.

Toki slowly looks up at Riff then to LJ quietly. She still feels awkward by the hunter's quietness and staring. LJ slowly turns her head to Toki not saying a thing either. The whale saver removes her hand from her arm then puts back by her side.

" Is she - ... - going to be - ... - okay?", Toki asks softly and slowly worried.

" I think so... We should probably do something to snap her out of this...",LJ simply replies.

Then the two trolls turn their heads back to the frozen troll. Riff truly doesn't seem like she is going snap out of this on her own. She almost seems robotic to LJ and Toki. LJ folds her arms thinking of something to snap her cousin out of her frozen state. It is written all over the Rock Trolls face. Toki puts her hands together still feeling uncomfortable.

" How about you try saying something in her ear to get her attention. Like something she'll love to see. Hearing there are whales or lykars around always gets me jumping back to reality?",Toki says honestly.

LJ turns her head to Toki confused. She never heard of a lykar before! What is a lykar? Toki notices that LJ is looking at her so she turns her head to her. Toki notices the look her friend is giving her.

"What's wrong? Something I said?",Toki says confused and softly.

" Yeah. What in Trollstopia is a lykar?",LJ says confused.

Now Toki understands what is confusing her friend. Toki had written a book before called " Born To Be Free" for fun. It takes place in a fantasy troll world where Trolls and Lykars co exist. Lykars are a species she made up. They are combination of wolves and dolphins. LJ hadn't read her book yet. A smile appears on Toki's face and twinkle in her eyes.

" Lykars are a species i made up for my book " Born To Be Free"! Their like a mix of dolphins and wolves. My favourite one is Spirit! She is such a adorable and sweet little dork that I just love her. You should read my book and there's a squeal too.",Toki explains very happily.

Now LJ understands what are Lykars. She nods her head understandingly. The Rock troll has been meaning to read it but, just never got to it yet. Then she turns her head back to her still frozen cousin. A smile spreads across her face as she gets an idea.

" I know what to say...", LJ says softly to herself and knowingly.

Toki notices the new look on LJ's face. LJ walks closer to Riff still smiling. Riff doesn't move at all but, she is still breathing of course. Toki gets a feeling Riff might fall on the ground or become jealous. LJ leans forward to one of Riff's pointy ears.

" Barb is walking around shirtless in this area... ", LJ says softly.

Within a second Riff immediately snaps of her frozen state then turns around fast! She looks in every direction searching for a shirtless Barb but, to her confusion and disappointment he isn't anywhere. A frown appears on her face.

" I don't see him...",Riff says softly and disappointed.

Then the Vampire Slayer realizes that LJ tricked her! She slowly turns around and looks at her cousin not amused. LJ let's out small chuckle as Toki smiles happily to see that Riff can still move.

" Not funny...", Riff says unhappily.

" Actually kind of was. Your face was priceless. It's so obvious that you like Barb...", LJ replies holding back a laugh.

Toki walks closer to the two Rock Trolls happily then stops. Riff turns her head to Toki. LJ unfolds her arms as Toki puts her hands in her pockets.

" So your not mad at LJ for telling Supergirl and Sparkles about you crushing on Barb?", Toki asks.

Riff thinks for a moment. Sure she isn't happy with LJ's choice of a lie but, now that she thinks about it, it's too late. If she denys the lie then Sparkles and Supergirl would get suspicious. Honestly is a bit upset but, she knows just has to slide with this. What choice does she have?

" I'm not happy but, I guess as long as Barb doesn't find out it's okay.", Riff says calmly and honestly softly.

Toki is both surprised and relieved by how well Riff is taking this so well. LJ smiles happily and relieved that Riff is taking it so well. Riff honestly didn't see much point in yelling at her cousin so it's better for her to be calm about this. It's not like Supergirl and Sparkles are going to tell Barb.
