I Want To Try

"Grayson...I want to try" you mumbled as you were laying in bed with your boyfriend

His arms wrapped around you, pulling your back to his chest

"You want to try?" He questioned

"I-I want to try and have kids with you"

"Oh...umm, how about we talk about this in the morning sweetheart" Grayson said trying to convince you to sleep

"Just imagine a little you or a little me running around...I would love that"

"...maybe, but we're still young, you know?"

"That's perfect! We get to be with them longer"

"Mmm, well let's talk about it later"

And with that they went to sleep that night, but with Grayson thinking about how to tell you he wasn't ready to be a father yet

As the weeks went by, you started to notice that Grayson would stay out later than usual, leading you to go to sleep alone sometimes because of how tired you would get from waiting for your boyfriend to get home

You asked a few times why he stayed out so late, and he would always answer that he was just out with his friends a while, hanging out

However, you started not believing it

It was too often that Grayson was out late, you started to believe that he was cheating on you

It was midnight when he went back home and you stayed up this time, waiting for him to get home

"Oh Y/N, you're awake, what are you doing -"

"Where were you?"

"...I was just out with-"

"Out with your friends again? Why are you avoiding me nowadays? Is something wrong? Did I do something wrong?" You asked as you walked up to him and took his hands in yours

"You did nothing wrong" Grayson spoke softly, looking at your sad state

"Th-then why are you always gone? A-are you cheating on me?" you asked

"What? No, I would never-"

"That's the only logic I find Gray! That's the only thing I can think of for you to come home so late! Tell me what's wrong!" You screamed as the tears formed in your eyes

"I'm not ready! I'm not ready to become a dad yet! I don't want children right now!" he exclaimed as it had finally gotten the best of him and he also let loose

"What?" You asked confused

"The other night, you said you wanted to try for babies, that you wanted to have kids...don't get me wrong, I would love to have kids with you, with you and no one else, but I'm not ready yet"

"Then why didn't you say anything?"

"I-I didn't want you to see me as less of a man for not wanting children...so I've been out of the house more, I promise I'm not cheating, I've just been with the boys, you can ask them"

"...you could've just told me ya know" you sighed as you hugged your boyfriend, feeing him tense at first but then relax

"I was just scared"

"No need to be, I'll always listen to you and what you have to say, promise" you said, looking up at him and smiling

Grayson smiled back and leaned down to kiss your lips, cupping your cheek

"Mmm, haven't kissed you in a long time" he said in between pecks

"See what you miss out on for not saying anything" you tease

"Won't happen again, promise"
