"[Name!]"
"Coming Mama!"
A young child comes running out of the snow covered trees, her bare feet sinking into the soft snow—leaving a trail of footprints behind.
"Mama look what I found!"
The child extends her arms out, palms up, revealing some bright red berries.
"Aren't they pretty mama?"
"Of course sweetie" her beautiful mother took the berries from the child, "Come on, let's go show your father"
The two of them pulled open the door to their small house, it wasn't much but it was enough to be home.
"Papa! I found some berries!"
At the sound of the child's exited voice a red haired man peaked his head around a bedroom door frame, "Come, let me me see"
He was a kind man with a gentle face and brown eyes, he wasn't the tallest—only average for his age. The child ran over to him with her mother close behind carrying the berries,
"I was running through the forest when I saw a flash of color! It was so pretty papa! There were so many it could've fed a village!"
She was obviously exaggerating but nonetheless it made her parents happy, seeing their daughter so excited over some berries.
"That's amazing hunny but why were you out there all alone? You know it's dangerous up in these mountains"
[Name] stared up at her fathers worried face, his creases sticking out more than normal.
"Well—you and Mama were busy so I thought I'd help find food!"
Her mother hugged her tightly "Thank you, I appreciate the gesture [Name] but next time please ask us first, okay?"
"Yes mother! Can I help you cook dinner tonight, mama?"
"I'd love that, why don't we get started?"
The woman gently set the berries on the wood counter before wiping her hands on a brown rag. "Make sure to wear your apron, we don't want your nice clothes getting stained again,"
in reality it was hard not to stain your clothes with their lifestyle, but a little caution never hurt anyone. The mother carefully tied her white apron while the daughter struggled with hers. Chuckling the brown haired mother took the strings to her daughters apron and tied them behind her back. The aprons were almost identical besides the size and the little blue flowers sewed into the bottom of [Names] apron. [M/N] (Mothers name) straightens back up, she tells her daughter to grab the needed pan while she turned on the heat. [Name] quickly grabs the pan and turns to watch as her mother lit a small purple flame inside her hand and used it to start the stovetop, this always fascinated her because no matter how hard [Name] ever tried to imitate her mother's magic, she couldn't get it right. Don't get me wrong she new what to do, but she just wasn't as strong as her mother was. While her mom could create giant purple flames, [Name] could only create tiny ones that quickly blew out because of the raging wind.
"Mama.."
"Yes dear?"
"How are you so strong?!" [Name] ran over, placing the pot on the stove to watch as the purple flame flickered beneath it, bringing light and heat with it.
[M/N] smiled and placed a hand on her child's shoulder, "It took me years of doing magic to be able to do what I can, and I know one day you'll be able to do the same. As long as you keep working hard, okay?"
"I'll work so hard! I'll be better than any witch before me! Just watch!"
The older lady laughed at [Names] sudden determination, "Yeah—I know you will make us both proud."
The pair smiles while happily working in the kitchen as [F/N] (Fathers name) went hunting outside for tomorrow's meals. When everyone was finally home and dinner was ready, they sat at their tiny table with the steaming meal in front of them. The littlest family member was the first to dig in, she ate quickly while her parents took their time.
"Sweetie, If you keep eating like that you're going to choke."
"I'll be obay mama!" [Name] responded with her mouth stuffed of the meat her father bought from town last week. It was the first time she got to go with him down the mountain, the city had so many people and shops! It scared and entranced the little girl who knew nothing but her small family. She couldn't wait to go again tomorrow, after all they left every Sunday to do some shopping! Now full of excitement and energy the young girl grabs her plate and rushes to set it in the sink before running to the bathroom. She hastily brushed her teeth and got into her nightgown with tiny little moons decorating the blue fabric.
"Honey what's got you in such a rush?"
"Tomorrow is Sunday papa! If I sleep it'll come faster!"
"Indeed it will, let me come tuck you in real quick" her father stood from the table and walked over to the child's bedroom. [Name] squeezed past him in the doorway so she could get under the thick covers. The bed got pushed down as her father sat near her on the edge of the small bed. He gently pulled the covers up and kisses his daughters forehead, "Goodnight [Name]. Tomorrow we can get some ice cream at the town, would you like that?"
[Name] smiles as she nods her head, "Goodnight papa! I love you!"
"I love you too Hun, sweet dreams."
She watched as her father blew out the lights and left, closing the door gently behind him. [Name] closes her eyes and listens to the soft sound of her parents voices. Before she knew it, she was dreaming away what tomorrow would bring.
