Heeseung turned and stopped up at the calling of his name shocked. How did he find him? Heeseung hadn't left anything that would suggest where he was. Was this a soulmate thing? Finding each other?
"Heeseung!" Jay's voice called out again and this was Heeseung's chance to disappear. He knew Jay was still far away as his heart hasn't stopped which meant that Jay didn't really know where he was. He could still get away.
Heeseung turned in the direction of the stairs to get back into the treehouse to collect his stuff and put a clocking spell on the building. Then once that was done he could run away as far as he could. Just as he was about to step on the first step he heard the 'whoosh' of the wind, his heart suddenly stopped and a soft voice calls out from behind him.
"Heeseung don't go"
___
10 minutes earlier.
Jay continued to run around trying to find some indication of where his soulmate was. He was now completely soaked head to toe but that didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was finding Heeseung. And talking to him. Without the presence of Heeseung's father. Whatever Heeseung wanted Jay was willing to do. But he would only do it if he was certain that that's what the older wanted.
He began to roam around the areas where the trees were thicker, thinking the older might of found an escape here. As he made his way the familiar vanilla scent came back. It was so faint that part of Jay thought he was imagining it. But imagination or not Jay followed it. It was better than going off of nothing.
Jay quickly found a path and ran down it towards the mountain. The rain made everything slipper, especially as he was running upwards. Despite this, he didn't let it stop him and ran up the mountain at full speed. The higher he got the stronger the scent was - despite it still being really faint - and he began to call out Heeseung's name whilst keeping his ears open for the heartbeat of the other. After all, Jay was a vampire and his hearing was impeccable, if Heeseung wasn't close enough for his heart to beat again then he would listen out for Heeseung's heart.
"Heeseung!" He called out loudly, knowing the other would hear him.
And he was right. Jay heard the jump of heartbeat and he turned in its direction. The wind blew at the exact moment Jay was hit with Heeseung's scent and knew exactly where the redhead was. Jay took on running again down multiple paths callings Heeseung's name again as he heard the older's footsteps nearby. He stopped next to a waterfall and river and saw that Heeseung was about to walk up some steps. Thinking that the older heard him and was trying to run away Jay spoke to him.
"Heeseung don't go"
Jay watched as Heeseung went still and rigid. He didn't turn to face Jay but the blond knew that he would be listening. The very fact that he was standing there as if he was waiting for Jay to make a move told Jay that he had a chance.
"Please, can we talk?" Jay tried, taking steps towards Heeseung, glad that his soulmate wasn't moving away but saddened at how he kept his back to him.
"I don't want to. I don't want to talk about it " Heeseung whispered, head down, it being the 'soulmate situation'
"Alright then. We don't have to talk about it. We can talk about something else" Jay tried as he stop when he was an arms-length from Heeseung.
"That's not a good idea. We should keep from each other" Heeseung shook his head and brought his leg back up to the first step on the stair. Jay noticed this and his hand shot up to grab Heeseung hand to stop him, lacing their fingers together. In a normal situation, Jay would be thinking about how good Heeseung's hand felt in his but something else distracted him.
As soon he touched Heeseung he felt his heart stop completely then start again. But that wasn't what was strange. What was strange was that he could also hear Heeseung heart when he shouldn't. He heard Heeseung gasp and the redhead turned around and looked at him with those wide innocent doe eyes baffled.
Jay felt the wind knocked of him as he stared at the beauty before him. He knew just how amazing Heeseung looked when dry but Heeseung completely drenched by the rain was something else. He looked so enthral that words couldn't even explain. His skin looked paler than usual making his freckles appear just a fraction darker than usual, if someone gave Jay a pencil he would be able to map out his freckles as if they were star constellations. There was a faint blush on his cheeks that Jay was certain he caused just by being around. His eyes widened in shock but were shining as if stars and diamonds had been trapped in them. His hair was drenched, a dark red than usual, flat on his head with its water drop from his hair to his angelic face. Jay was completely enamoured and only snapped out of his trace when Heeseung pulled his hand away and look at Jay as if he was trying to commit a crime. (Which he did. Jay was trying to steal his heart and it terrified Heeseung).
"Your heart?... Did it..." Jay could even finish his sentence since he was in such disbelief. Heeseung placed his hand on his heart and he looked at Jay in confusion. Was this possible? Did what happen really happen?
Jay lifted his hand and put it on top of Heeseung's that was on his chest. Immediately Jay felt the other heartbeat, his hand touching Heeseung's warm one. Wanting to make sure that this wasn't his imagination Jay reached out and held Heeseung's other hand, the other watching him with uncertainty but pulling away either of his hands. Jay brought up their entwined hands and up the top of his chest right where his heart was beating. And it was confirmed. Both Jay and Heeseung could feel that their hearts were beating and exactly at the same time as if they were one.
And neither of them could believe it.
This was another piece of information to add to the knowledge of soulmates hearts. When they were apart Jay's heart didn't beat as usual and Heeseung's would. They were close Jay's heart would start whilst Heeseung would stop, a switch. But when they touched each other their hearts would beat at the exact same time in unison. And it was amazing.
Heeseung couldn't ignore how cold yet comforting Jay's hands were in his. His magical side meant that his body temperature was naturally warm which was why there was such a contrast. Heeseung could admit to himself that he would hold Jay's hands for the rest of his life if he could.... but alas he couldn't.
Softly, Heeseung pulled his hands away from Jay, the blond allowing him but his face clearly showing he didn't want to. The moment he lost contact with him Heeseung's heart stopped again but he could hear Jay's one beating as expected. Looking down at his own hands Heeseung tried to ignore the longing he suddenly had to hold Jay's hand again. He remembered Yeonjun telling him that at the beginning all soulmates would find it hard not to interact and have contact with their soulmates but that over time they would learn to live with it the more they spend time together. But Heeseung wasn't planning on spending enough time with Jay to learn to live with it and so dropped his hands to his side and looked up.
"How did you find me?" Heeseung asked. He was certain none of them would find him.
"It was your scent mostly. I was running around the forest aimlessly, getting a hint of your scent every so often but it was barely there until I got to this path where I could smell it better. Then I followed it, your scent for stronger and I could hear your heartbeat. I kept going until I found you" Jay answered.
