Chapter Two
I open my eyes slowly. It's a bit hazy at first and I find it a little difficult to make out my environment at first.
The ceiling light hits my eyes the second I open them.
"Are you okay?" A strong voice asks me.
I turn my head and notice the hazy figure of a boy.
"What just happened?" I slowly ask.
"You fainted in the hallway." Another voice pips in. This time, the voice is strong, mature and yet gentle at the same time. I recognize it. Warmth fills me as the voice continues...
"... You didn't take your tablets did you?"
I shake my head as I get up.
"Sorry..." I say to him. My head clears a bit, and I can see a little more clearer.
Two people stand next to the bed I rest on.
One of them, tall, a little lanky, with floppy, messy hair and piercings on the ears. A strange appearance for a member of the school staff.
The school nurse.
My favorite teacher so far.
(If you count the nurse as a teacher)
Nurse Michael Dayes.
Yup.
A male nurse.
Thinking about it now... it is kind of weird.
But he is the only person whom I trust other than my brother.
I call him Mike. (I'm not comfortable calling him 'Nurse')
I didn't even know anaemia tablets existed before I met him.
Well, I'm not exactly well- versed on the subject of medicine or anything related to it.
I just manage to pass my tests and exams as it is.
"Anaemia? Oh thank god!!" The boy exclaims.
Insensitive prick.
Mike glares at him. "Excuse me?"
"I mean, I thought she fainted because I bumped into her so hard! I mean, what if that was the case? I was terrified of the probability! Thank goodness that she's just anaemic and it isn't necessarily my fault! I mean, I am sorry for rudely bumping into while I screamed 'MOVE', but I thought she was dumb and stupid for not moving! I'm new here and I was already late for class... And injuring a girl on the first day isn't exactly good for me. So, you understand my reason right?"
I'm surprised that this idiot isn't panting. He talks way too much. He's like a...
KID.
"So, she's fine right?" he continues.
Make that, a STUPID kid.
Mike smiles at him coldly and sarcastically.
"Can you leave now weird boy? You've done enough damage for today."
How very befitting.
"Oh, I'm really sorry by the way!" He exclaims as he slings his bag on his shoulder.
"Which class are you in by the way?"
I look at the pitiful guy.
I feel kind of amused looking at him.
He's about my height, with short, messy-spiked hair, his shirt's un-ironed, his socks are mismatched (one's blue and the other's black), he has a small oval face, without a hint of a stubble, a strong nose, and a strangely charismatic smile. His eyes are without a doubt common brown and he looks kind of cute.
And he says 'by the way' way too much.
Cute like a stupid kid.
"Hey, hey! Don't check me out!" He smiles.
I stare at him blankly, giving no reply.
Mike stands next to me as he takes out tablets from the cabinet and chuckles.
"Ooookkkkaay then... I'm in class 10 B, just so you know..."
He says and waits for my reply.
I nod in acknowledgement as I take my tablets.
Mike continues to look on in an amused way, with his long fingers poised on his lips as if he's observing two very interesting species.
The kid waits for my reply patiently.
I continue to stare even after I'm done taking tablets.
"10 B..."
I tell him finally out of pity.
"Really! Awesome! C'mon, let's go to class! I mean, we're already late!" He continues.
I shake my head. "You go ahead..."
His face falls.
"B- but we're in the same class!" He mumbles.
His eyes are strangely very expressive.
I sigh. "Fine. Wait out. I'll come..."
He grins boyishly. "Awesome!" He runs out of Mike's office.
I feel as if I'm interacting with a 10 year old.
"Is this the first time you're so actively interacting with a boy?"
Mike smiles.
Embarrassed, I shake my head. "He's a kid..."
"You wish!" he remarks and grins devilishly.
"Thanks for the tablets..." I say.
He smiles and nods.
Patting my head, he says, "I have a good feeling about this year for you..."
"I see..."
"He carried you here by the way... I don't think he's intimidated by you like the others."
"He will be as soon as he gets a better look at my eyes..." I say in a low voice.
"You have BEAUTIFUL eyes, got that?"
I nod and walk out. The kid is waiting out as he said he would.
"Hey! Oh, by the way, I'm Raj. Raj Kumar! And you are?" He asks with enthusiasm as we walk toward our class.
"Arianna Emi." I say.
"By the way, I noticed, you're RED! You've been this way since you left the office! What happened? Did the weird nurse say you have a fever?"
"N- no..."
I look away from him.
Crap... Why am I red? Am I embarrassed or...
Am I blushing?!
