"What do you mean?" I laugh nervously. Absol glares at me. I'm kind of at a loss for words.

Mark never told me what to do if my secret was out.

"Don't play dumb. You have a really close connection with not only your pokemon but other people's pokemon or wild pokemon. How else were you able to tell Gallade wanted pomeg berries instead of oran berries? I kind of guessed, but I can easily tell," Dawn responds.

"Good job, smartass. She just found out our secret," Absol says.

"Well no duh, Absol! What am I going to do?" I ask him.

"I'd just tell her. No harm done, is there? She'd see why you'd want to keep it a secret."

"Uh...I guess you're right."

"You know, it's been like 5 minutes since you last talked. Talking with Absol?"

"Yes."

"Wait, you can really talk to pokemon!?!"

"Uh...yeah...I can...and Absol likes razz berries the best. He told me a while ago," I say sheepishly.

"THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!" Dawn screams. Many heads turn to look at us. I feel a blush on my checks. Great, now everyone in town knows. Or should I say city.

"Good job! Mark'll be sooo happy once he finds out!" Absol says sarcasticly. I roll my eyes at him.

"Well, maybe he won't find out," I sugest. Absol nods.

"Uh...let's just get back to the pokemon center..." I start. "I mean, it's getting late an stuff..."

"Ok?"

Dawn and I walk silently back to the pokemon center. She must be processing the thought that I can talk to pokemon. The people at Hope Town don't really think much of it. They just say stuff like, "Hey, Skylar, what's Swablu thinking about? He's been distant lately," or, "Can you ask what kind of berries Riolu wants for me?"

It gets pretty annoying. But who cares. People know who I am, they know what I am. They give me a purpose. But enough sappy moments.

We make it back to the pokemon center. Of course, it starts raining. Hard. Very hard. Dawn and I rush inside the red roofed building to avoid getting soaked from the rain.

I hate rain.

Absol shakes off the rain once inside, soaking the main room. Nurse Joy glares madly at me. Oops.

"Not my fault it started raining, lady," Absol rolls his eyes, walking down the hall. I sigh, saying a quick sorry and follow Absol. I start playing with my poketch. Maybe I can find out how to use the map.

Once we all get inside our room, I start studying the map. Lucas was planning to go to Oreburg. Now, studying this map, I don't think it's a good idea. I mean, Rt. 207, according to the map, is a hard Rt to walk on. It's very mountainous, being next to Mount Coronet and all. I think it'd be smarter to head north to the valley windworks and through Eterna Forest. I tell Dawn about my plan.

"And you just drop it?" she asks.

"Drop what?" I ask innocently.

"The fact you can talk to pokemon!"

"Uh...well there isn't much to talk about. I mean, I can talk to pokemon through telepathy. Pretty basic concept."

"I wish I could have your power! It'd be soooo cool!"

"Trust me, you wouldn't. Some pokemon," I point to Absol, "are really annoying."

"I'm not annoying. Houndour is more," Absol argues.

"Actually, quote from Absol, I'm not annoying. Houndour is more," I quote. Dawn stares at me, flabbergasted. "What?"

"You can really talk to pokemon?"

"Yes. I've said so 15 times at least."

"What does Staraptor say?"

"Hi!" Staraptor says.

"Hi."

"Just that?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

Dawn smiles, petting Staraptor and talking to her. I flop down on my bed, and so does Absol. I push him off angrily.

"You're soaking wet!" I scold.

"So?" Absol says, looking innocent.

I scuffle into the bathroom. I search the dark room for a towel. Grabbing one, I leave the room and drop it on Absol. He doesn't look amused.

"Dry yourself, please. I don't want to be soaked again," I command.

"I would, but I don't have thumbs," Absol states. "Otherwise I'd be right on it."

I sigh and start to dry Absol off. He's really annoying sometimes.

I let Houndour and Weavile from their pokeballs. They stretch.

"Yawn!" Houndour says. "So what'd I miss?"

"Dawn found out," Absol mutters.

"HAHAHAHAHA!" Weavile laughs, doubling over. I face palm. "Mark's gonna kill you!"

"Well," I start, "he just won't find out!"

"Hey, what's it like talking to pokemon?" Dawn suddenly asks.

"Just like talking to a human. Except, well, you're talking to a pokemon. Although I don't see much of a difference in pokemon and humans," I respond, patting Absol dry. "Just don't tell anyone. It's a secret that I intend on keeping."

"Ok. Let's go to sleep. Tomorrow we'll head north toward The Valley Windworks and Floaroma Town. Goodnight, Sky."

She just called me Sky.

Only my dad calls me Sky.

Although I was too tired to care.

"Come on! We're going north instead! It'd be too hard to travel through Rt. 207! We're going north!" Dawn argued.

"I planned this entire trip down! We're going east!" Lucas shouts.

"Jeez, I don't understand how you put up with these people for as long as you did," I whisper to Barry. Absol nods.

"I don't either," Barry responds, "they're both control freaks. On the bright side, we're closer to Snowpoint City!"

Dawn and Lucas have been arguing for at least an hour now of which way we should go. North or East. North or East. God, just pick a way already!

"You know, you're wasting time arguing! We could've been a lot farther along if you didn't fight!" I shout at Dawn and Lucas. They glare at me, and go back to fighting.

"These people. I really don't know anymore," I sigh.

"Why don't we battle while they argue?" Barry suggests. I shake my head. Honestly, I just want to travel already. Snowpoint City was still a few weeks away. I was still a few weeks away from finishing the job.

I think it'd be easier if I flew with Swellow and not travel with these weirdos. Of course, Swellow was just a Taillow when we started this adventure.

Wonder if Houndour will ever evolve. I know he wants to, so no real reason to hold back. If I wasn't able to evolve, I'd try to find an answer.

Maybe I should do that.

While Dawn and Lucas argue, I walk over to the pokemon center bookshelf and search the shelves. I find one titled Evolution and take it out. Rolling my wrist, I walk back to the table Barry and I were seated at. I pull my chair out and sit back down.

"What's that?" Barry asks.

"Research. I'm going to find out why Houndour hasn't evolved yet." And that's all I say.

Time for research.

AN: hey thanks for reading! I love writing so yeah.

And thanks for 100 reads. It may not seem like a lot, but it amazes me that 100 people... well maybe not that many, decided to read my story. So thanks!
