Reason number two for why I'm an idiot: I should've worn armor, was what Sir Harry was thinking as he stared wide-eyed at Voldemort. Nagini was also there, slithering around at his feet.
This was exactly the chance they were looking for; if only they'd been better prepared.
At least he'd brought his wand and the Sword of Gryffindor with him.
"I've got the venom," Draco said quietly.
Sir Harry looked over, and sure enough Draco was clutching the vial of venom. In that moment, he didn't really care if Draco had still been in love with someone else, as he ran his fingers roughly through his hair. "You're fucking amazing," he said, before kissing him, putting all of himself into it.
"Who's that?" Prince Ron awkwardly interrupted. He was standing now.
"The thing we've been busy fighting," Sir Harry grunted, as he stood. "Also known as Voldemort."
"Voldemort? What kind of name is--" He was cut off by a shock of green lighting being thrown their way; the death curse.
Sir Harry quickly countered it, and said, "Not sure if you've heard, but magic's real. Like, really real."
Prince Ron looked as though he were about to faint. Or vomit. Either way, neither were very helpful. "I-- I think I'm gonna go--"
"Yeah, go hide in the castle or something," Draco spat. "Go warn everyone else. Tell them to stay away from here."
"Uh, got it..." And he was off, sprinting away from the battle.
"Harry!" Draco called out. He ran over and handed Sir Harry the vial. "Put the venom on the sword, and go after the snake! I'll hold off Voldemort."
"Got it!" Sir Harry said back, popping open the vial and pouring the liquid onto the blade. Draco countered at least six spells as he did so.
Ready, he lunged forward, heading right for Nagini. Short range was always Sir Harry's specialty, and, of course, being a snake, Nagini couldn't cast and spells.
Feeling more confident now at this sudden realization, Sir Harry jabbed the sword right at Nagini, who shifted just at the last second, causing him to strike the ground instead.
"Damn it," he cursed through gritted teeth, as he ripped it out of the dirt.
"Don't miss too much!" He heard Draco yell. "There'll be no venom left when you actually manage to strike if you do!"
Sir Harry nodded, and spun around as the snake slithered quite quickly behind him. She went to strike, and he nearly didn't dodge in time.
"Be careful!" Draco once again yelled.
"Shut up and focus on your own battle!" He didn't want to sound mean, but he was kinda in the middle of something, and didn't need to focus on Draco getting hit because he was looking over at him instead.
They spun in circles around each other, the only one truly trying to strike being Nagini. Really, Sir Harry was playing it defensively just so he could throw her off guard when he actually did go in for the next attack.
Then, he saw his moment, and went for it. Unfortunately, Nagini also decided to strike at that very same time, and Sir Harry had to fall to the side in order to dodge her fangs. He quickly scampered up, though, and seized the attack again. This time, he missed again, just barely.
But, he didn't let that stop him. He was determined to land a hit, and he knew it was only inevitable that he'd earn his strike eventually.
But then it hit him -- he'd been avoiding using his wand the entire time! He had an advantage, and he hadn't even thought to use it. So, he swiftly slid it into his hand. Nagini seemed to draw back at the sight of it. He couldn't kill her with it, but he could certainly use it to get in close, so he could ultimately stab her with the sword.
In that moment, however, he seemed to forget every single spell he'd ever learned. He glanced over at Draco, hoping he'd somehow notice.
And he surprisingly did.
"Keep fighting! Use the Cruciatus curse, or something!" he shouted.
Sir Harry turned back, and immediately shouted, "Crucio!"
Nagini threw herself back, but nothing happened. He tried again, but with more emotion this time.
Still, nothing.
"Do you not want to hurt her?" Draco yelled. "What the hell, Harry!"
"No! I do! I think..." He shook his head. Maybe he just wanted to kill her, and not cause her much pain whilst doing so, since Voldemort seemed to have control over her. It even seemed like the same control he had over Draco. Perhaps that's why he couldn't cast the spell -- because he'd seen Draco suffering from the control all the same.
"Do something simple instead, then!" Draco shouted. He sounded out of breath -- like he was on the brink of exhaustion.
"Like what?" Sir Harry really didn't want everyone to die just because of a simple lapse in judgement, but here they were. He and Nagini were still doing the tango, whilst Draco seemingly struggled to continue dodging curse after curse.
"Try--" Draco was cut off, as he barely countered another death curse. "Try confusing her!"
Strange, but it might just work. So, he cast the Confundus Charm. Sadly, it missed, and landed struck the dirt, creating a tiny cloud of dust.
"Confundo!" Sir Harry said again, but Nagini had already moved away.
Maybe he should just try something different. "Stupify!" was what Sir Harry decided to go with next. That one missed too. Maybe he should've practiced his aim more.
But, after a while of Nagini dodging his spells, he was beginning to grow fed up. But, he had one last trick up his sleeve. He turned toward Voldemort, holding out his wand, pretending that he'd for some reason stopped fighting Nagini. She saw her moment, and when she went to strike, Sir Harry dug his blade into her flesh.
He breathed heavily, and watched as Nagini's eyes grew wide, before softly dimming out as she collapsed to the ground, sliding off of the blade as she did so.
There was a surge of power, and Sir Harry turned to the other battle. He noticed Voldemort seemed to be caught off guard for a few seconds -- but it was only that, a few seconds.
Then, he went back to firing spell after spell at Draco, who looked like he could pass out at any moment.
And, to Sir Harry's surprise, just moments later, that's exactly what Draco did.
