Petunia huffs racing to the door and picking up the single envelope on the floor in front of the door. She picks it up reading the front of it,

"It's just someone playing a dumb prank, probably Charlette down the street." she shrugs handing the letter to her sister, Violet looks down at the letter. Loopy cursive letters that look very official address the front of the letter in black ink,

Ms C. Dursley

Second bedroom down the hall.

69. Bromeni st.

Herming,

Liverpool.

Violet flips the letter over to see a very official wax seal, looking up at Petunia.

"We should wait until Dad comes home" Violet says simply and Her sister huffs her eyes raking over the letter.

"That's probably for the best," she shrugs, placing the letter on the table. The two girls went the rest of their day as usual, doing chores, playing outside the letter shoved to the back of their minds. Halfway through the day Dudley returns home from his part time job at his father's company greeting his girls

"Hello my darlings, how are my beautiful girls?" He hugs them both and the older girl speaks first.

"Something came for Crocus" she tells him and violet glares at her, pulling him to the table and Dudley chuckles.

"Silly girl there is no post on Sundays" his words shoot a dreadful feeling through his body remembering how his father was insistent about this point for most of his life after Harry started going to Hogwarts. Petunia gives him the letter,

"That's what I said must be a prank" she crosses her arms, Dudley looks down at the letter, his face going white. He walks to the phone picking it up and dialing a number.

"Could I please speak to Mrs. Dursley, it's important." he says into the receiver pausing for a moment.

"Tell her it's her husband" He says a few moments later and there is another pause. Violet is nervous by the look on her father's face as he talks on the phone, almost frantically.

"Dearest I know, yes, yes, I wouldn't call if it wasn't important, it is an emergency... Jenna please!" There is silence as everyone is still almost as if time has stopped. Suddenly Dudley speaks again,

"Thank you love, i'll see you soon" he nods, hanging up the phone and sighing deeply pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Your mother is on her way home." he says looking down at the two girls.

"I need you two to go wait in your bedroom." The girls look at each other before going to their room with no objections.

A while later, the girls are still sitting in their room while hushed whispers can be heard from their parents in the other room.

"You're in trouble, I bet you're really adopted" Petunia says simply and Violet huffs.

"Stuff it Noony I'm trying to listen" she glares at her sister who sticks her tongue out in response. Dudley yells from the other room to them,

"Girls, will you come here for a moment?" he asks and his daughters cautiously stand in front of him and their mother.

"Girls there's something we need to tell you" He pauses looking to his wife whose eyes are red with dried tears

"This is not a prank" he says simply and Petunia turns to her younger sister.

"See? I told you! You're adopted" she shares triumphantly and Violet feels her heart quicken.

"Alright little girl come with me" their mother takes Petunia's hand bringing her into a different room.

"Daddy.. Am I in trouble? Why is Mum crying?" Violet asks and Dudley breathes in deeply.

"My beloved you're not in trouble, this is actually very good news." he takes the letter from the table and hands it to her.

"Why don't you read this yourself?" Violet takes the already open letter. She takes it out and there are the same formal black letters reading:

Dear Mrs. Dursley

Yours Sincerely,

Oliver Wood

Deputy Headmaster.

Violet didn't know what to make of the letter, Dudley slowly explained everything he knew about the wizarding world which wasn't much.

"Why was mummy crying if this was good?" she asks at the end of this explanation trying to grasp everything.

"Does this mean she doesn't love me anymore?" she asks softly and Dudley feels his heart squeeze.

"Oh Love no of course not! She's just sad her baby will be gone for the entire school year" He says softly placing her on his lap.

"I'm sad too but... I'm also so happy you get this opportunity"

Violet furrows her brows thinking to herself about what he said.

"What if I don't want to go?" she asks softly and Dudley sighs rubbing her back.

"I know it's scary Hun, but you can't just say no, you at least have to try ok?" he looks at her and she nods her eyes filling with tears

"ok Daddy.. I'll try" he smiles at her proudly kissing her forehead hugging her to his chest

"Just because you're different doesn't mean we don't love you just as much honey lamb" he says softly and she nods again into him.
