Ollie's POV
Damn her. If it weren't for her stupid smile and ridiculous laugh I wouldn't be in this mess called Valentina.
She drives me nuts though, that's the problem.
"Yeah. Ollie I didn't know you felt that way, I didn't think you thought about it."
Val's voice rings through my head like an endless lyric, stirring up my emotions and stressing me out.
I flop on my bed, hoping to escape the fact that she's not here right now.
None of it works because the bed reminds me of...things and I hate this.Reluctantly, I do the one thing I shouldnt. I play blink-182's song Not Now and shut my eyes to its rhythmic beat.
"Please stay, until I'm gone, I'm here hold on, to me I'm right here, waiting,"
"And take, my one last breath, and don't forget, that I will be right here, waiting."Val loves blink-182 and listening to them makes me feel like I'm with her, like I can see her again.
I realize I'm being a little dramatic but I guess I never understood how much I honestly love her. Now she's gone for two months, and I'm sick of it.
What if she sees me on Tuesday and hates me? Val sounded happy on the phone, but what if she's still mad at me? And after my stupid little confession, I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to talk to me.
I'm about to throw myself out the window when my phone rings.
"Oliver? Hello?"
Ms. Grayson's voice flows out of my phone."Ms. Grayson? It's me, Oliver, what's up?" I ask.
"I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my house for dinner. I know Val isn't here or anything but-""That'd be awesome Ms. Grayson," I say interrupting her. It would be great to go to Val's house, maybe it'd help me get her out of my mind so much.
"Well then. Is tonite at seven ok with you?"
"Perfect."////////////://////////////////////
When I arrive at Val's house, I can't stop the grin that spreads on my face.
"Oliver, so nice you could come over!" Arabella exclaims, answering the door.
Her expression makes it seem like I'm entering a trap, not a home cooked meal.I take only two steps into the house when Arabella verbally attacks me.
"When did you decide my sister was yours, Oliver?" She asks and I have no response whatsoever."What do you mean?" I say nervously, hoping I don't seem suspicious.
"Look, you've got her whipped for you and she doesn't even know it. She wears your flannel, says your name all the time and won't wear any other perfume beside the one you told her smells really good two years ago. I'm onto you, Hastings."
I'm once again speechless.
Assuming that Ms. Grayson is cooking in the kitchen, I try to formulate a sentence with Arabella."Wait, Val has worn the same perfume for two years because of me?" I ask, surprised.
Arabella nods and leads me into the living room, sitting on the couch. I plop down next to her and she continues."She wouldn't shut up about it. I remember it vividly, almost perfect.
It must've been a month ago or so after you met, and she realized you were in her Chem class. One day she came home and told me 'This cool guy in my class said I smelled nice today' and then never wore any other perfume after that. Pretty dumb, if you ask me."Arabella looks mad at me, as if I did something to her.
"Um, Arabella, I just like Val as a friend really it's not-"
She cuts me off mid-lie."No wait, it gets better. I know all about your guys little secrets, ok? I know that you're an expert photographer and a Capricorn and that you and she did it together when she was dating Ryan and I also know that you, Oliver, are fully and completely in love with my sister."
Arabella faces towards me, and my eyes shift. Where did she learn all of this anyways? It's none of her business.
She answers my thoughts.
"In case you forgot, my sisters going to be a journalism major, meaning she's kept a detailed journal for the past two years. I read it when she's not home, and then I learn a lot."I stand and get up off the couch, uncomfortable with being in the same room as Arabella. Why would she snoop in her sisters stuff? What, does she think she'll find some love poetry or something? Val's not like that.
Ms. Grayson walks into the living room, scanning her eyes like she is taking in every detail.
"So nice to have you over, Oliver. Dinner is ready," She says quietly. Two women pissed at me in one week? Must be on their periods.
