Max's POV:

"And so, after we compare and contrast the Age of Enlightenment's dark period with the Spanish Inquisition's recessionary trends, we can get a head start on our triggernorm- uh, triggy- the math!"

I continued to doodle, trying to tune out my dad. I looked down on the paper to see a small drawing of me and (Y/N) holding hands, a smile sneaking up onto my face.

"Then as a treat, I'll get us tickets to the museum of natural arts and sciences." I looked at my dad as he sharpens his pencil. "I hear there's a spectacular leech exhibit, but only if we finish all our homework!"

I yawned, stretching my arms. I wish I can get out of here.

A paper airplane hit the side of my head, I grabbed it and glanced at my dad to make sure he isn't looking.

'MEET US IN MUSIC APPRECIATION AISLE. 911!!'

I looked up and searched for who wrote it, PJ and (Y/N) popping their heads up behind the computers.

I glanced back at my dad, still reading his book, and carefully tried to get away from him.

"Where are you going, son?" I flinched and looked at him.

"Oh yeah, well, I was just gonna go to... You know! Go to the uh- to..."

My eyes landed on the librarian's desk and got an idea, "Take you to sign up for your library card, dad! All new students need one!"

I grab his arm and dragged him to where the librarian is. She was stamping the books, a whole pile on either side of her.

"Ahem."

She looked up at me and dad, closing the book in front of her. "Good morning, gentlemen. I am the head librarian versed(A/N: idk man) in all aspects of your school's library including but not limited to fiction, nonfiction, periodicals, reference, and policy. How may I help you?"

"Hi there! Miss... Marpol-ee? Marple- Marpole!" I pushed the old man in front of her, "My dad needs a library card. Could you-"

"Oh, it would be my pleasure." She cut me off, leaning down to a drawer. "We here at the college library believe that owning a library card is a privilege, not a right."

I backed away, hurrying to the back of the computers where my friends were.

"I don't know about this, Peej... Someone's expecting me.." I heard (Y/N) say to PJ as I jumped down next to them.

Bobby was sitting on a computer chair, a pair of headphones on his head while the two were next to him, quietly talking.

"Who's expecting you?" My eyebrows raised and crossing my arms.

"Nobody." She said, turning to me.

"Let me guess, it's Bradley." "What? No! Why would you think I'm wasting my time with him?" She got close to my face, glaring at me.

"It doesn't seem that way when you sat next to him earlier in class." I got close to hers, glaring back.

"Really, Max? I was going to take the seat next to you but your dad took it. Bradley was the closest so I took his offer."

I looked away, not wanting this conversation any further.

"Maximilian Goof, are you jealous?"

I instantly turned to her, her eyes wide and her eyebrows raised. "W-what?! I am not!"
