In the five years he’s owned the car, Carter Vio has never driven this like this. Speeding down the road, making sharp turns, not worrying about his wife and kids in the car with him. Eager to show them the new elegant house he recently bought. After living in a rundown apartment for 15 years, Carter finally managed to buy his family their dream house. Gripping the wheel all so tightly, his knuckles turning a pale white, finally he pulls into the long circular driveway.
His wife, Kay and youngest daughter Chayla gasped, staring wide eyed at the beautiful, vine covered, older white house in front of them. Whilst the not very impressed Ryliee paid no attention and continued to text her friends.
“So what do you think?” Carted asked a little too eagerly as the three stepped out of the car and stood in front of the house.
“It’s beautiful!” Chayla exclaimed before running off to explore.
“I love it,” Kay said as she walked over and hugged him. The warm sun beating down on their backs, the clear cloudless sky offering the hope of a beautiful day. Little did they know, the worst was to come soon after.
“Come on dear, come check the place out,” Kay called to Ryliee as her and Carter took off at a steady pace. Not very interested in checking out the new place that took her from all her friends, the home in the middle of nowhere. No neighbors for miles, nothing but woods. After a few minutes of sighing and silently complaining, Ryliee walks inside and looks around. A few minutes passed before Ryliee walked into a large, dark red almost blood colored room with only one window.
“I found my room!” Without hesitation Ryliee called to the others. Exploring the large room she discovered a closet with an attic door. The shelves covered in layer after layer of dust, the floorboards squeaking with every step. There was a single window on the far left wall, almost not visible behind a large bookcase filled with old dust covered books. Well I better start cleaning this dump, she thought to herself before she set out cleaning.
Later that night after everything was settled, Ryliee decided to call it a night and head to bed. She layed there in complete silence. Not a single sound was made. It was like the house was waiting, waiting for them to fall asleep. Laying on the old musty floor, Ryliee thought she heard a sound.
“Hey”
She held her breath and listened again, thinking it was just her imagination playing tricks on her.
“Hey” it called again. This time Ryliee knew it wasn’t just her ears playing tricks. The voice was scratchy and barely audible. Where’d it come from. Was the only question she repeatedly asked herself.
“Over here,” the scratchy voice called again. Chills were sent dancing across Ryliee’s back. This time she knew it was coming from the closet.
“Who’s there,” she called back quietly not wanting an answer.
“My name’s Azeral, don’t worry I won’t hurt you,” the voice called back as a shadow appeared at the closet door. Ryliee squinted trying to make out what it was. As the shadow got closer, she noticed the torn and tattered clothes, messy brown hair and a grin that sent chills throughout her. The voice appeared to come from what looked like a boy. A boy with dry bloody lips. His eyes were pitch black, a smirk appeared as he noticed Ryliee was frightened. Her mouth opened to say something but closed as she was at lost with words.
“I won’t hurt you. I’ve come to say hello new friend,” Azeral said, taking a step closer. A putrid smell filled the room causing Ryliee to gag and Azeral to let out a screeching laugh.
“What do you want?”
“I want to be your friend.” With that being said Azeral disappeared back into the dark shadows of the closet. Soon after the bedroom door opened and there stood Chayla, holding her blanket.
“I’m scared,” she sat down next to Ryliee on the floor. A cold wind entered the room and sent the girls shivering under the blankets.
