Y/n's POV
Several days passed and they seemed to blur into one. The pain had faded once again and the emptiness returned. I could barely sleep which wasn't helping my recovery. I was able to walk but I still had to be very careful. We had all decided that we would have a funeral for Natasha, yes there was hope we could use the stones to bring her back but the truth was we probably couldn't. Natasha traded her life in what was said to be an everlasting exchange. There was no certainty that if we snapped and hoped that she would return and we had very little time or chances to experiment before we had to return the stones to the past.
We had been able to plan a small funeral whilst Bruce and Tony worked together to start building a new time machine which would allow someone to take the stones back. Life was chaotic with so many people in the house, there was; Tony, Pepper, Morgan, Harriet, Me, Wanda, Sam, Bucky, Steve, Bruce and Rhodey. We were squashed in rooms together and between the lot of us tears were shed every day. Natasha had made such an impact in everyone's life.
Clint called me everyday and checked in on me, but I didn't really know what to say. Harriet was sleeping in with me and waking up in the middle of the night crying. Life was hard but I knew deep down it would only get easier.
We had booked Natasha's funeral for a week after the battle, things had been planned quickly but with nobody we were able to arrange a small gathering very quickly. I had chosen a special place that the others were confused by. A small graveyard not far from her childhood home in Ohio. She had spoken several times about how her few years in Ohio had impacted her and I also knew that she would hate having a big public grave. So I chose the discrete location to respect her privacy and give us a place out of the way to pay our respects.
The day of her funeral rolled around and everyone was up early so we could all travel to Ohio before it got too late in the day. Things moved quickly but I knew that we all needed closure.
It was a bit of a struggle getting myself and Harriet ready but Pepper and Wanda were a huge help. Harriet took to Wanda better than I had ever imagined and Wanda was a natural with children. Harriet had fit right in with the rest of the team, especially Sam and Bucky.
Several hours later we got to Ohio and got into the hire cars which took up the rest of the way to the graveyard. There were quite a few of us but they were all important people to Nat.
We had all of the team, Fury and Maria, and the Barton family. Everyone had come to pay their respects.
Laura, Cooper, Lila and Nathaniel were there; Harley, Sam, Wanda, Bucky, Peter. T'Challa, Shuri, Okoye, Carol and the Guardians had come. Everyone in the team was there, ready to say goodbye to the woman who had held to start it all. Steve and I were either side of my daughter, holding her hand as we went down the path to where Natsha's gravestone had been put.
It truly hit me when my eyes fell upon the stone. Her name was large, beneath it was the symbol she wore on her suit. The symbol of the Black Widow. At the bottom of the stone read five words.
Daughter
Sister
Wife
Mother
Avenger
The grave really meant she was gone. Everyone gathered around, loss on all of our faces. Happy and Rhodey stood behind Pepper, an arm around one another as they watched. Steve, Peter, May, Thor, Bruce.. I looked around at our family. My eyes turned to Laura and her children, then to Wanda, Sam and Bucky. The same expression was shared between all of us. Everyone who had fought beside the great woman stood to honour her, remember her, and look up to her as a woman who put her life on the line to save all of us.
