I was following a gang of street kids who were leading me to where I needed to go. I had failed to get my bearings in this coastal town somewhere in Southern France. Suddenly, however, I felt a great force pressing down on me. It was so painful, I had to stop walking, and as I stared at my feet trying to recover, my vision darkened. An incredibly powerful thought was coursing through my brain. It felt like it was going to burst. A simple revelation was at the center of this eruption, and it had to be voiced:
- This is a dream.
Everything cleared up around me again, I was able to lift my eyes and look around. The accommodating youths scattered hastily despite me calling out to them. It was as if my presence had begun to frighten them, and they had hurried off to hide under their blankets. In their place, three bullies came up to me. They were huge teenagers in sportswear with a strut I recognized from Post Soviet street thugs. Their imposing figures and their posturing were clearly meant to frighten me. However, when they had encircled me, the snovids cast off their disguises. They had failed to elicit the desired response. Indeed, I was quite glad to see them because I wanted to talk.
I spoke to the snovid that seemed the oldest. Taking a leisurely stroll in this picturesque Mediterranean town along the coast of the French Riviera, we started our conversation.
- I know that I am dreaming and that you are snovid. Can I talk to you about the nature of dreams?
The oldest of them looked back in dismay at the two snovids who were walking behind us. He whispered:
- Speak softly now. They do not like to be reminded of this topic. I will try to answer you as best as I can.
The other day I watched a documentary about the duality of the mind. It was stated there that the two hemispheres of the brain have their own personal awareness and both work to create a whole. This can be proved with the alien hand syndrome. When the hemispheres are separated for some reason, the left hemisphere can express itself via speech and gestures of the right while the right hemisphere can only communicate through gestures of the left hand. I had begun to wonder, then: Was it feasible that the right hemisphere could speak through the language of dreams? So I asked:
- Is it possible that you are the consciousness of my right hemisphere? Meaning you (I pointed at him for effect) are I, and I am you.
After thinking briefly, he answered:
- I am you, but you are not you. You are the destroyer of worlds.
I was taken aback by these words, and did not immediately know how to respond.
- How can that be? I created the world around us, didn't I?
And as proof, I created a city along the visible horizon.
- Or do you mean that I could destroy all of this?
After I had spoken these words, I could see how, guided by the power of my mind, atomic missiles took off, ready to destroy some distant city, the sky burning in a red glow.
- You misunderstood.
Calmly, as if nothing had happened, he continued our conversation.
- Yes, you create a world around you, but the worlds from which you depart, once you leave, they disappear forever.
I stood, frozen in place, trying to grasp what he had just said.
- So, I – Is it like Shiva's dance? Am I destroying and then creating something from the ashes?
He simply nodded.
