"Ow!" Thrown off-balance, excruciating pain crippled my body as I stumbled to the floor before someone grabbed a hold of me.
"What the?!" I tried to shuffle away, kicking and shoving my elbows into their solid body.
"Help me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, my throat strained. I continued to yell before my mouth was covered up.
'Shut up, boy!' A familiar dark voice instantly struck me. My throat was dry, the sickening sensation of falling at high speed as fear gripped me. I turned to face the one person I was afraid to see—Vince.
'Remy!' River growled, adrenaline coursing through my veins as he struggled to take over. There was a delay, unable to respond quickly.
The assassin from my old pack was finally here for me. This was a living nightmare. I struggled to escape his grimy arms, wiggling from his grasp, scratching, and fighting—doing everything to get free.
All my senses kicked back in. I bit down, sinking my sharpened canines into his hand that was covering my mouth. The metallic taste of copper coated my taste buds as the older man yelped from the pain. It was brief, but I managed to steal a moment to scream again.
"Why you little fucker." The rogue punched me in the face, temporarily subduing my will to fight. Hunched over on the ground, I held onto my face as Vince stood up, his broad shoulders held high, checking to see if anyone had come to answer my cries for help. With the coast clear, he greeted me with a hard kick from his Doc Martens, giving me another reason to be silent.
"Ow..." The sound of his boots carried through the air as he coldly strolled around on the creaky wooden porch, consuming my thoughts with the same dull tapping noise from before. My breathing was shallow. Every inhale was a fight to secure air.
"They said this would be a piece of cake. I didn't expect you to fight back, but honestly, you can't always trust the intel." He pulled on my hair, bringing me up close to stare at his menacing face. His dark, soulless black eyes studied me with devious curiosity. His face was clean-shaven and utterly serious. The same brown hair from before was disheveled. Looming ominously before me, the man cracked a twisted smile, raising his brow as he studied me.
A trickle of blood dripped down from my nose, and Vince wiped it from my face and licked it up like some sadist.
"Wow, you look just like your father. Same eyes too. Sucks he's dead now." He smirked. "I can't wait to see the look on Ares' face when he sees you. The Alpha's been waiting for you."
'What?!' River had all but collapsed, losing focus on taking control. The name, unknown to me, had been the trigger to stoke unfamothable fear in his heart. 'He's still alive?'
Vince pulled my hair harder, my scalp on fire as he sniffed my neck, lingering to stare for a moment at my mate mark.
"Seems the rumors were true. Two Alphas huh? Of course, only a cursed spawn like you could pull that off, just like your whore of a mother. Guess the apple doesn't really fall far from the tree." Laughing at my expense, he held his grip as I fought to be free.
"You're still fighting?" He goaded. "Seriously, what's a little Omega like you gonna do about it?" The man dropped me, my body crashing to the hard floor. Ridden with the worst pain in my life, it was hard not to cry. Everything within me was on fire, yet I still tried to crawl down the porch stairs.
"How pathetic. Remy, where do you think ya' going?" Vince taunted, jumping down to stand at the foot of the steps as I continued to crawl down.
The alarms in my head sounded off, everything telling me to run, fight, scream— do something, anything, to escape this bastard. River was becoming undone, completely freaking out in my head at the idea of being taken away. Even my wolf was too paralyzed to protect me.
