I have no idea how to write a resume.
This is wattpad. Leave it alone.. . . . .
Michael
"You want to what? Why would you want to do that?" Alex asked.
"Why not. I love cooking and I love people so I think a café is a great idea. I mean I'm still going to help with business. This is just like a hobby I guess. Leo, what do you say?"
He just shrugged "do it." He mumbled.
Alex rolled his eyes. "Look man, you know I'll support you with whatever you want to do but what will dad say?"
If only I knew what I was getting myself into.
Alex's grandfather is currently the don of the Italian mafia, meaning he's 3rd in line.
My parents, part of the Kenyan mafia, are extremely close friends with Alex's parents who treated me like their own.
"Maybe he doesn't have to find out but I don't think he'll be that mad."
I was wrong.
"Michael, mio figlio, are you crazy? It's too dangerous, especially now. Did you know Nicolai is in Europe? If he finds out we're in Scotland, we'll have blood on our hands."
"I know. I know. I'll keep it low-key. I promise. I won't hire too much staff."
Dad leaned back on his chair and rubbed his temples.
I looked back at Alex who looked at me with a 'told you so' look.
"va bene. Open it. Only if you keep it safe. I'm not going to say you and your shop aren't my responsibility, because you are but if anything happens, I will not hesitate to say I told you so. Fatto?"
"Sì"
"Ora vai"
I turned and stuck my tongue out at Alex, like a child, and walked out.
2 months later
It's done!!! And now I just have to put out an ad for employees.
It didn't take long before I got over 20 emails for a job.
I, politely, declined them all. They all were girls who had all put a inappropriate photo of them.
I have no idea why.
I was losing hope a little until I saw a certain résumé.
Dear Mr Manager
I'm emailing you about the job you put out in the newspaper, a waitress for your café?
I just want to say that I feel like I'm really suited for this job. Growing up in a Indian household, I'm very experienced in cooking and serving and I'm really reliable and to be honest, I just really need a job.
I'm 18, October 22, currently living in the University of Edinburgh. Please email me back. I swear I'm not as desperate and annoying in real life :)
Jasminder Singh
I immediately emailed her back saying she got the job even though what she wrote was definitely not a résumé.
I didn't hire her because of her desperation, I hired her because of her personality and I'm hoping it's the same when I meet her.
"How's the hunt for staff going?" Alex asked, walking in with Leo next to him. He sat on the chair infront of my desk.Leo grabbed the bottle of scotch and three glasses.
He poured us and himself a glass before sitting on the sofa in the corner.
"I've basically done it. I've found a perfect waitress. Well I hope she's perfect"
"Waitress- singular?" Leo asked in his usual low whisper.
"Yeah" I rubbed the back of my head. "I promised Dad that I'll keep it low-key so now I'm just looking for a chef to help out"
"I can help." Leo chimed in.
Alex and I turned him with surprised looks on our face.
"What? I'm a really good cook" he shrugged.
"You are?" Alex asked, turning in his chair, putting one leg under the knee and his chin on the palm of his hand.
That position must've been so uncomfortable for him. Why does he do that to himself.
Leo nodded.
Alex turned to me with an impressed look and then gestured to Leo. "There you go. You're sorted"
I nodded my head slightly as I went back to my paperwork while Leo and Alex took out their phones.
. . .
I was sitting in one of booths when I saw a small figure walking towards the café. It was hard to see due to all the rain and fog.
I went behind the register and went on my phone, swiping between the pages to make it look like I was doing something.
God I'm so socially awkward. How am I part of the mafia.
I looked up when I heard the small bell ring and I was met with the eyes of the most beautiful girl I've seen.
She had thick, wavy, dark brown hair which sat perfectly upon her shoulders.
Her face was wet, along with her clothes and hair.
She had acne on her honey-coloured cheeks.
She was slightly chubby, which is a good thing, and had sleepy looking eyes and perfect heavy bottomed, downturned lips which made her look like she had a permanent pout that made her look absolutely adorable and had a small gold nose ring.
She was quite short too. It looked like she came up to just below my collarbone.
She would look tiny next to Leo. He was unecessarily tall. I don't know what his parents fed him but they did a good job considering he's just 208cm (6'8).
"Hello dear, you must be Jasmine, the new employee" I smiled. She brushed her hair back with her hands.
"Yes, that's me" she replied back with an English accent and a beautiful smile.
"I'm Michael. Michael Greene. I'm the manager and I also own the café"
"I'm Jasmine. Jasmine Singh. My full name is Jasminder but that's really long and only my parents and meree chaachee aur chaacha call me Jasminder and I'm not saying I'm embarrassed of it, I just want to avoid people mispronouncing it. You know- I'm sorry." She lowered her voice, looking down at her trainers. (my aunts and uncles)
My heart cracked a little. I could listen to her talk all day.
"No no, it's okay, carry on sweetheart" I slowly walked towards her.
She looked up and smiled.
"No it's okay. I should probably let you explain everything you need to explain"
I was just atleast a meter away from her, causing her to look up at me.
I saw a nervous glimmer in her eyes as she maintained eye contact.
I cleared my throat. "Right. Okay. So basically, there isn't a lot of staff. You were actually quite lucky to get selected." I led her in a booth and sat down on the opposite side
"Right now, there's only me, you, and my friend Leo. Leo will be the head chef and I'll be switching between cooking and waiting but in the future, if the café gets a bit more busy, I'll try to hire a couple more people but we'll see.
So, what would you like to do first. Would you like to meet Leo or change into our wonderful uniform" I gestured to the long sleeved black t-shirt I was wearing which had a small cupcake on the boob and plain black sweatpants. It took alot of convincing to Leo to put on the uniform but he reluctantly gave in.
It just looked more formal. She looked behind me and looked around the shop.
"I would love to get out of these clothes if that's okay with you" she fiddled with the sleeves of her sweater.
"Of course it is. I did suggest it after all" I chuckled lightly as I got out of the booth.
She frown-smiled and followed suit.
.
Jasmine looked adorable. The long sleeved t shirt was tucked in to her sweatpants, accentuating her boobs.
I should get her some sort of cardigan or hoodie incase she feels uncomfortable.
"Heyyy took you long enough" I joked as I slid out the booth, watching her walk out of the back room, smoothing down her top.
She rolled her eyes playfully "shut up. So what do I do now?"
"You can meet Leo? The café doesn't open for another 15 minutes."
"Sounds perfect by the way, this uniform is so cute. And it's comfortable" she complimented, making me smile.
I gestured her to go infront of me as we walked towards the kitchen where Leo was sitting on a chair in the corner.
"HEY! I KNOW YOU. you were at my sister's wedding" she immediately recognised him.
"You guys already know each other?" I asked
"Not really. I kind of just bumped into him"
"You're Hardeep's sister in-law." I stated.
"Yup. How do you guys know him?" Jasmine asked, taking a seat next to him.
I saw him slightly tense up.Leo was not a people person. He was very closed off. He hardly spoke and he has a very strong mask, hiding his emotions.
"Uni" he answered bluntly.
She pressed her lips together and nodded a little. "That's cool. Is he as annoying as I think he is because I think he's pretty bloody annoying."
I chuckled and shook my head "definitely"
A bright etched across her face, making me smile too.
We're going to have so much fun.

This chapter was annoyingly difficult to write.
