DREAM POV -

I mumbled incoherently as I was awoken by bright sunlight filtering through my window, I shielded my eyes, regretting not closing the curtain last night. I tried to sit up, breakfast jumping to the front of my thoughts, but I realised that something was holding onto me.

I looked down and a smile spread across my face. George was cuddled close to my chest, still asleep. I felt my cheeks heat up and turn red at the sight of him. Yesterday came flooding back to me. George's explanation, how my soulmate was quite literally Cupid. I was still trying to wrap my head around the whole concept of the LIFE organisation. It was so weird to think that my every move was dictated by people called Creators.

I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice George slowly open his eyes.
"Dream?" His low morning voice pulled me out of my thoughts, making me turn red again. I gently kissed his forehead, smiling,
"Morning Georgie," I mumbled, making him smile. He slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Are you hungry darling?" I asked, also sitting up and running a hand through my dirty blond hair. George yawned and nodded. I climbed out of bed, George following suit. I stole a glance at him, grinning as I saw how big my hoodie was on him. "So," I said as we approached the door, "What's with the invisibility thing? Will my family be able to see you?"

George stopped in his tracks, the smile disappearing from his face.
"No humans should be able to see me unless I specifically let them. You're just different cause you're my soulmate" George explained. I weighed the options in my mind, George could stay invisible and I would sneak him food or I could ask him to reveal himself to my family. I decided on the latter, taking a deep breath as I took George's hand in mine.

"Look, George, I know we only really met each other yesterday but I feel connected to you. Well, obviously cause you're my soulmate but also because sharing thoughts with each other has helped me get to know you better than I know anyone and well, I really like spending time with you," I smiled warmly at the brunette who raised an eyebrow at me,

"What do you want Dream?" He asked, rolling his eyes.
"Would you maybe be willing to meet my family? It would only be my mom and sister, my dads away on a business trip. I know it's like moving fast or whatever but you're my soulmate and I know that you're already one of the most important people in my life so I think it would be cool for you to meet them," I spoke quickly, watching as doubt spread across George's beautiful face.

"I don't know Dream. We both know that it can't work out," George's voice was filled with sadness as he spoke. A small pout appeared on his gorgeous porcelain face.
"Please George? Let's not think about that, let's just be soulmates," I pleaded half heartedly. I put my hand on the door handle, half accepting that he wasn't going to say yes. He stayed silent. I stepped outside of the room and was halfway down the hallway when George's voice called out.

"Fine! But only because you're my soulmate," He came running out of the room, his sock clad feet padding softly on the wooden floor. I grinned at him and held out my hand. He took it, smiling nervously . George then took a deep breath and closed his eyes, I assumed that he was making himself visible.

"Ready?" I asked when he opened his eyes again. He nodded, looking slightly terrified. "Unmute me," I said suddenly. George looked up at me, confused. "Unmute my thoughts, then if you need, I can get you out of there without it being obvious," I explained. After a moment, George nodded and very slowly, his thoughts made their way into my head.

We were ready.

I lead him down the stairs, reassuring him with my thoughts the entire time. We made our way into the kitchen and George froze when he saw my mom at the counter, singing under her breath as she made pancakes. I silently encouraged him as I cleared my throat, alerting my mom to our presence.

She looked up and smiled,
"Dream, honey! Good morning! I've made pancakes!" She waved her hand, signalling for me to enter the room. I squeezed George's hand and led him closer. My mom suddenly spotted him, "Who's this Dream?" She asked, giving George a warm smile.

"Mom, this is George, he's my soulmate," I said proudly, patting George's head. The brunette turned red with embarrassment, glaring at me. My mom's face lit up when she heard the word 'soulmate'. She immediately ran to hug George, tears of joy springing into her eyes.
"Oh honey, welcome to the family. It's so lovely to meet you George, goodness you're pretty, Dream's very very lucky," She exclaimed kindly.

I heard as George's thoughts turned from pure anxiety to a calm happiness. His thoughts were very bittersweet however, on the one hand, he was so happy that my mom was accepting him like this, but on the other hand, I could hear from his thoughts that he'd never had a mother figure that actually loved him. I felt a protective urge overtake me as George's thoughts drifted to his parents and the way they'd treated him.

I could feel the urge to punch them rising a lot until one word shattered all of my anger,
"Dream," George was looking at me, a sad smile on his face.
"Sorry, I just care about you, idiot," I grinned at him as George playfully rolled his eyes. My mom chuckled as she went back to making pancakes.

"You know, I remember when I met Dream's father, we would talk through our thoughts all the time. I had massive social anxiety so he would help me out by talking to me through thoughts," She reminisced fondly as George and I smiled. I took George's hand again  and lead him over to the island where we both took a seat, listening to my mom talk about anything and everything.

It was peaceful and I could tell that George was becoming more comfortable.

Then Drista walked in.

"Mom! Dream is a nutcase! He was talking to himself yesterday!" She declared, collapsing into the seat next to George, not noticing him. My mom looked up at her and laughed slightly.
"Drista, meet George, Dream's soulmate,"

Drista turned and caught sight of George, who's anxiety had started rising again. I squeezed his hand gently. Drista's mouth fell open in shock.
"Oh my god! Hello! I'm Drista! It's so nice to meet you George! My brother is a stupid idiot so let me know if he's a dick to you and I'll show you my fork collection," Drista grinned at George and he looked slightly scared but also very amused.

"And that's our cue to leave," I announced, standing up and grabbing a plate of pancakes from my mom. "Thank's mom," I said, pulling George to his feet.
"It was lovely to meet you both, and thank you for the pancakes," George smiled, speaking for the first time since we'd arrived in the kitchen.

I hurriedly lead him away. As we left, I heard Drista shout,
"OH MY GOD, HE'S BRITISH! HOW DID A LOSER LIKE DREAM END UP WITH HIM?"

George chuckled softly as I frowned.
"I'm muting you again now, but thank you Dream," George informed me as we closed the door to my room. I nodded, no longer feeling upset at the action because now I didn't lose him completely. George's thoughts slowly drained from my mind and we both sat down on the floor to eat, George turning on the tv and pressing play on a random movie.

I could get used to this.
