Game fucking on. May the best one win.
I took a bullet for the fucker and he's going after to kill me. Though, in his defense, he doesn't know my true identity.
This will be fun.
I opened the door, acting as if I didn't hear anything. I passed by him, going down the stairs. I put on some flats before putting Moana's food in her bowl. I filled her water. I picked up my purse from the counter, just as Connor came down the flight of stairs.
"Do you want to go out?" I asked.
"You should be on bed rest." I rolled my eyes.
"Are you coming or not?" I clicked the button on the elevator and it opened up. I stepped inside, followed by Connor.
"Where are we going?"
"I have to go to Chase's house to check up on the process being made. Hopefully, nothing fucked up in the time I was gone." I chuckled. Not only, did I have to worry about Chase's assassination on me but I had to keep up with my work. I wasn't going to let anything or anyone put a stain on my company.
Xavier wasn't here anymore. I needed to figure all this shit out on my own. I needed to do my own research on who the fuck put the bounty on Chase's head while also staying careful that I don't get a bullet to the dome.
"Jaz!" Connor shouted, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah?"
"Where are you lost?"
"It's nothing, I was just thinking about how the progress is going at Chase's house." I put on a small smile.
"I went over and it seemed like everything was going fine."
I nodded, "Thank God."
I stepped out of the elevator and made my way toward my red Ferrari. "Are you going to take your car? I can get someone to bring it over to your place."
"You are not driving." He stated.
"Why not?" I questioned.
"Jaz, don't be stubborn. Let's take my car."
"I have to come back home." I needed to find information about who is behind the bounty. I can't really do that if I don't have a vehicle of my own.
"I'll drop you." Liar.
"Connor," I whined. "I'm fine."
"No, come on." He headed towards his car and unlocked it. I sighed and walked myself towards his car. I sat down in the passenger seat and closed the door. We both put on our seatbelts before Connor reversed and pulled onto the main street.
"I want to take you somewhere."
I looked at him as he lazily held the steering wheel with one hand and the other on his lap. "Where?"
"It's this little donut shop, but damn do they have the best donuts." He chuckled.
"Is there—" I was about to ask if there were chocolate donuts but he cut me off.
"Yes, there is chocolate donuts."
I laughed, "Priorities."
"Damn right."
He took an exit from the highway. He drove a little further until a cute retro-themed donut shop was seen in the corner of the block. "That's beautiful."
"The inside is even cooler." He parked his car. I looked out the window to see some people clicking pictures already.
"For fuck's sake." I closed my eyes. I didn't want to deal with them today. I swear to god, one day they will be killed by my hands.
"You are in the news quite a bit. Of course, the paparazzi would want to find you." I rolled my eyes.
I had seen the news over the last weeks and I saw all the false allegations they were putting in the media. I don't know how but somehow they confirmed Chase and I are dating. They talked more about how Chase might have been involved in the shooting but they had no evidence to prove anything.
"This is a bad idea," I muttered.
Connor leaned over and put the hair covering my face behind my ear before kissing me on the forehead. "Relax, they don't have any control over you." I softly smiled.
"Thank you, Connie." I laughed.
"Fuck off, Jazie." We both laughed before he stepped out of the car. He came around and opened my door as I took a deep breath.
I thanked him as he extended his hand towards me and I put my hand in his.
"How are you feeling now?"
"What happened at the event?"
"Did you almost die?"
"Is he your next fling?"
"Are you cheating on Chase Knight?"
"How many guys do plan to be with?"
"It's a new guy every day, who will be the next one?"
"Are you not ashamed of yourself?"
It took everything in me from not lashing out on the fucking reporter. I took a note of how he looked as he would be finding himself dead by tonight.
Connor opened the door for me and I stepped inside. The donut shop had white and black checkered flooring with a mix of pink and blue walls. The walls had neon signs pulling the whole bakery together. I looked through the glass to see the different types of donuts. "Wow!" I could've drooled just looking at all the different types of chocolate donuts in front of me.
"Hello, what can I get started for you guys?" The girl, on the other side, beamed. She had beautiful black hair in a fishtail braid. Her blue-colored outfit was making her eyes pop out against her beautiful rich colored skin tone. I saw her steal glances at Connor as he looked at the donuts.
