...I hop down from the passenger seat of the Jeep and onto the sidewalk.
Adam walks around the front of the car and meets me on the sidewalk. It was pretty cold out considering the fact that it was August 12th, it was about 62 degrees today, it was very unlikely and unusual.
We only had to walk about 2 blocks away since the Crystal Shop was pretty much dead center of downtown. Adam grabs hold of my hand and interlocks fingers as we walk. He's never done this before, I kind of liked it. "Whatcha doin there sir ?" I finally spoke up as we continued to walk throughout the sidewalk. "What am I suddenly not allowed to hold your hand?" Adam questioned me. "Well I mean it's fine but you've never done this before." I respond to his question. "I'm being nice, I'm also trying to cheer you up." Adam says as we step up the 2 small steps that were in front of the door. As I walk up the steps and open the door Adam's hand slips away from mine. "Hi Sue how've you been?" I say to the owner as we walk in, since I've been here so many times I know the owner very well. "Hey Darci, need any help looking around today?" Sue kindly asks as I walk towards the first large table. "Nope not today I'm just looking since this is my last time coming here." I say not realizing what I had said until I said it. "What do you mean Darci? you leavin'?" Sue said with her slight southern accent that she had since she moved from Texas a couple years earlier. "Oh yeah, I'm being forced to move to Wisconsin with my family tonight. " I say as I dig through a pile of Amethyst and Rose Quarts on the large table. "Oh that's a shame, maybe I could try to mail crystals to your new address." Sue explains sounding dead set on mailing me crystals across a bunch of states. "I would love that, but only once a month because it might be expensive." I tell Sue just a little concerned "Sweetie it's okay I love making people happy and I really don't mind." Sue goes back behind her desk and starts making some wired rings.
Adam and I start searching throughout the large tables. After about 15 minutes of looking through piles and piles of rocks and crystals Adam walks over to me with his hands behind his back. "Close your eyes and hold out your hands." I close my eyes and hold out my hands like he said, I can hear something clicking together in his hands. As I stood here waiting for whatever he was about to do and give me I feel something very cold be placed into my hands. "Open your eyes." As I open my eyes I see Adam standing about 4-5 inches away from my face, he was pretty close. I look down at my hands and see a large Rose Quartz heart shaped crystal in the center of the palms of my hands. Adam takes his hands out from behind his back and he reveals the same crystal, slightly different of course, his had a couple brown specks on the side and center of it. "I wanted to have a piece of each other when you leave. When I think of crystals I think of you and hopefully you think of me too." I stare at him in aw. "Forever and always." I say back as I reach my arms out and wrap them around his back and give him a big hug. we stayed there for only a moment and continued looking around for about 5 more minutes. As we got out the store I look at the time and realize it was already 3:21, I had to be home in 24 minutes. I realize my phone was vibrating in my pocket so I grabbed it. I had 3 missed calls from Tyler, my Mom and a text messages from my dad.
Dad:
"Darci answer your phone please, your mother cannot get a hold of you."
I decide to call back Tyler first because I knew he wouldn't bitch at me as much as my mom would.
"Ty what do you need I'm with Adam downtown."
"Mom wants you home, she said she's mad at you since you still have stuff to pack."
"Ok I'll just call her and talk with her."
"OK good, I'd hurry, she seems pissed. Have fun."
"Who was that?" Adam asked once he knew I wasn't on the phone anymore. "Just my brother, he said my moms mad at me for still having stuff to pack and that I need to come home." I say disappointed. "Oh ok I can take you home if you want, we gotta stop at my house first though I have to grab something." Adam says sounding excited for some reason. "Ok my keys are at your house anyways. We spent most of the car ride listening to our favorite songs, "Fireball" by Pitbull, "Nonstop" By Drake, and obviously "Carless whisper." We pull into Adam's driveway at about 3:37, I knew my mom was going to be mad. I live about 4-5 minutes away from Adam's house so I was going to have to grab my keys and Adam was going to have to take me home right away. As we pull onto Adam's street I realize I never called my mom letting her know what was going on. I start freaking out, "Adam wears my phone??" I say panicking. "Center console."
