Percy smiled widely, a beautiful sight that warmed the hearts of the cold-hearted.
"So, what do you think?" He asked his two friends, who sat slumped at the rickety kitchen table before him.
One of them, Leo, held up a finger in a signal for Percy to wait a second as he finished chewing the food that was currently in his mouth.
"I think it's fantastic." At Percy's still slightly nervous expression and restless form, he added, "Honestly."
His other friend, Piper, sat forward in her chair seriously.
"I have to agree. Percy, these are amazing. They are so nice. You should try one."
Percy looked down at his friend gratefully, though at the same time he shook his head with a smile - this one much smaller than the last, but no less gorgeous.
"I can't. I'm too full of energy. I'm so nervous."
As he spoke, Percy glanced down at his shaking, jittery legs with pursed lips. The action caused the two other people in the room to do so too.
Leo stood, then, and approached his friend slowly; as if he was a predator and Percy was his prey: a fragile animal that had been cornered out in the wild. (Though he did it with a lot less threat and menace, obviously. He was a lot let intimidating than a large predator hunting its frightened prey out in the wild.)
"Come on, Perce. Don't be nervous. You got this. That trophy is practically yours already, I can smell it."
Percy shook his head. He had been listening intently to his friend with the utmost concentration, only to look down doubtfully as his friend reached the end of his baby pep talk.
"No. No, that's just the cookies in the oven."
Leo gawked at his friend, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"In the oven? And not in my mouth? Preposterous!"
Piper, his other best friend, laughed to herself joyously. "I'd like to see you try and spell preposterous."
As his two friends descended into chaotic bickering, Percy turned around and headed straight for his tiny little apartment oven crammed somewhere it doesn't seem like it should be, between two granite counters.
--
"Weeellll?" Percy asked, elongating the word unnecessarily in agitated impatience.
"Weeellll," his friend Leo copied him, teasing him as a payback taking what he deemed too long to plate the delicate treats. He took another big bite, then chewed extra slowly and dramatically. On purpose, it all was.
Sat at one of the other two seats at the table, Piper chuckled to herself, covering her mouth with her hand when Percy turned to her, his face desperate.
"I actually think it tastes gorgeous, Percy." Leo assured, upon seeing Percy's apprehensive expression.
Percy positively beamed.
--
Later, after eating three large, fatty orders from three big, unhealthy fast food restaurants, the three young adults lay stretched out across the various seating of their shared apartment.
"I'm stuffed." Leo groaned, his head tipped back and his hands resting atop each other on his stomach, wrapped around the body part tightly.
Piper, despite being in a similar situation and feeling exactly the same, spoke up in a taunting voice that referenced to Leo's earlier words.
"You don't want dessert, then?"
Leo moved to sit up hastily, looking affronted. (He moved too fast and tried not to let it show, though he did clutch at his stomach a bit tighter.)
"I never said that. Stop putting words in my mouth." He glanced from Percy to Piper, both still laying in positions nearly identical to the one he had just been in. "The only thing you should be putting in my mouth is something sugary that's full of calories."
Percy's eyes widened, and he stared at Leo as if he had just grown an extra head, lost an arm, and pulled off his clothes.
"How can you even think of eating anymore right now!?"
Leo shrugged, looking unbothered by his friends stares at the tone of Percy's voice.
"It's a talent, I guess."
