"Mr. Xue Kang, we have a lot to talk about," Taehyung spoke with a smirk, "You had been such a good dog till now. So what made you think David wouldn't notice your recent sneaky actions?"

Xue Kang's eyes widened in horror as soon as he heard the name and Taehyung's smirk looked to be a little wicked as he tightened his grip around the man's throat and choked him.

"W-who are you...?" Xue Kang managed to choke out as he desperately grabbed Taehyung's hand and tried to free himself.

"You need not concern yourself with my identity," Taehyung replied nonchalantly, "What matters here is not who I am, rather, it's the reason why I'm here that you should be worried about."

Xue Kang gulped as he heard this and his twisted expressions almost looked as if he was going to pass out at any given moment due to suffocation.

"Why did you go behind David's back?" Taehyung tilted his head with a sadistic smile as he questioned, "If that old Hwang died, you should have just followed the orders and cut the loose ends. Now the news headlines seem to be blowing up because of you."

Everything Taehyung said was based on both facts and guesses, but his words hardly had any impact on Xue Kang. In fact, the reason why Xue Kang looked so terrified was not because of Taehyung's words, it was because of the way he spoke them.

Like a grim reaper that was here to incinerate the soul of a sinner.

There was probably no man on earth who could maintain his composure under such fierce glaring eyes.

"An unknown tip led the port petrol to stumble upon a human trafficking ship," Taehyung scoffed, "David could care less about the unknown tip and the news headlines, but the fact that you went against his orders still remains and I'm afraid, it won't be easy to make him overlook this incident."

"It won't be e-easy...?" Xue Kang's eyes widened slightly as he understood the underlying meaning behind Taehyung's words, "T-that means there is still a way to save me, right...?!"

Taehyung's face turned blank and he stared at the man with an empty gaze for a minute before he finally smiled and released the man's neck.

"I knew you were smart, Mr. Kang."

Xue Kang fell onto the floor and gasped for air as he rubbed his neck that had almost been twisted out of place under Taehyung's monstrous grip.

In reality, Taehyung had merely guessed something and with his confident words, he baited Xue Kang to confirm whether the guess was right or not. He didn't really expect the guess to be accurate and perhaps that was the reason why he was quite surprised to see that he had hit the mark at its center.

Taehyung had heard about the leader of The Iris. David was not a man who liked to leave loose ends and he was also not one to be associated with people who failed to do their job. If one got caught by the police, he'd be completely abandoned by David and all traces of him would be erased along with him. It was cruel and yet, it was also the best way to ensure that the Iris survives.
After all, all members of Iris were loyal to the empire and not to the individuals running this underground empire.

If Mr. Hwang had indeed duped both the Iris and the black jade, even if the Orcus didn't kill him, one of the two empires would have and everything related to him would have been destroyed. The dating app that tricked and lured in victims would have been completely erased and the human trafficking incident back at the ship would never have taken place.

However, the ship still continued to sail out even with Mr. Hwang's death and this was definitely not something that David would have allowed to happen. If so, then it was someone who had power inside the Iris. Someone who was close to David and could hide the truth from him.
