| THE DATE |Cassie sat in the back room on her phone, she couldn't believe it, but she was going to admit that these phones are addictive. She began to type to Bucky, reminding him to bring filthy dollars with him for their bet, but she got a text from a very special kid.
Peter Parker- Hey! It's me, Peter.
- You remember me right?
- It's the kid from the airport in Germany a few years back.
- Spider-Man?
- That's me. Peter Parker.Cassie Carter- I remember you, Peter. Don't worry.
Peter Parker- Oh, that's good.
- I was wondering if you could do me a favour.Cassie Carter- Sure kid. What is it?
Peter Parker- My friend and I, Ned Leeds, have a history project and we have to do it on someone from American history. And I know that you're English but you were friends with Captain America since you were fifteen and you were also part of the Howling Commandos.
Cassie Carter- So what can I help you with?
Peter Parker- I was wondering if my friend and I could interview you. Ned and I will win the competition if we could interview you.
- But if your too busy we don't have to.
- It's fine, we could do someone else.
- But if you don't want to do the interview, do we have permission to do a project on you? Most other people from American history is dead or don't know I exist.Cassie Carter- What about Bucky?
Peter Parker- I don't think Mr Barnes likes me very much after Germany.
Cassie Carter- I understand that. But when do you want to interview me?
Peter Parker- OMG! You'll let us interview you?!
Cassie Carter- Of course kid. I'm not working tomorrow if that suits you and your friend.
Peter Parker- That's great! Thank you so much! So tomorrow at noon? My house?
Cassie Carter- See you then, Pete.
"Hey, Cass, there's a guy here looking for you." Leah walked into the room Cassie sat in. "He also did the most adorable thing ever. He brought you a bouquet."
Cassie looked up from her phone to the woman and nodded her head. "Oh, okay, thanks, Leah. If you want I'll lock up, you can go home."
"Are you sure?" Leah tilted her head to the side, receiving a nod from the redhead.
Cassie smiled standing up from the chair. "Of course, my treat."
"You're the best, Cass. Oh, God, I can't wait to go home and get some food in me." Leah wrapped her arms around Cassie's shoulders with a chuckle.
"But one thing." Cassie pulled back from her co-worker. "Keep him company while I finish up, will you?"
"Yeah, sure." Leah nodded her head and walked out into the bar as she watched him try to stop the yellow Maneki-Neko from waving. "So, have you dated much since half the fish in the sea came back?"
Bucky shook his head, taking the beer Leah offered him. "Not really."
Leah nodded her head, understanding the man. After the blip everything was confusing, and it was hard to get back to normal. "Wait, how old are you?" The woman tilted her head to the side.
"A hundred and six," Bucky responded without missing a beat.
Leah just laughed, thinking his answer was a joke, Bucky just begin to chuckle anxiously."So, what's with the gloves." Leah gestured to the gloves Bucky had on his hand.
Bucky stuttered looking down at his hand, trying to think of something to say. "I, um... have, uh..." Bucky clicked his tongue, "Poor circulation." Cassie shook her head at the man attempting to lie.
"Hey, thanks for keeping him company." She whispered to Leah. The raven-haired woman offered her a smile.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Cass." Leah spared Cassie a wink with a smirk before leaving the restaurant,
"Bye!" Cassie called, waving at the woman while she left. When she looked back at Bucky she shook her head. "Poor circulation? Really?" She chuckled, "You could have thought of anything better? Not that that's a bad lie, that's pretty a very smart one, it's just it's not very believable."
Bucky smirked, standing up from the stool he sat on. "What else could I have done, Ms I'm-a-great-lier?" Bucky wrapped his arms around Cassie's hips looking down at her.
Cassie winded her arms around his waist under his jacket. "Well if you replied straight away it would've sounded more believable." Cassie shrugged, looking up at him.
The brunette man just rolled his eyes at his girlfriend. "Okay, so are we just going to stand here and do nothing?"
"Okay, have a seat, I'll get the game," Cassie ordered before she walked behind the counter to get the board game herself and Leah played all the time on boring shifts.
"Battle Ship?" Bucky raised a brow, looking down at the box after Cassie placed it down. "How do you even play this?"
Cassie handed the man instructions to read, receiving a groan from him. Bucky still wasn't fond of reading, even after a hundred years. The redhead began to set the game, as Bucky only scanned the instructions, not even reading it properly.
After a few rounds of the game, the couple were both on their third bottle of beer. But neither of them were drunk. Cassie just sat with her hand holding up her head as she just stared deeply at Bucky.
He just squinted his eyes and looked at her confused. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just thinking." She responded, smiling softly at him.
"'bout what?" The brunette Brooklyn accent coming out strong.
Cassie chuckled embarrassedly while shaking her head. "When we were kids and how blind I was not to see that you liked me."
Bucky held his smirk on his lips. "It only took a year." He shrugged his shoulders. "I thought you loved your books more than me. That's why I didn't say anything."
"I still do." She joked, "I'm joking, I love you more than anything, Jamie." She smiled before looking down at the game. "B-8."
