I had just moved into high school. She was in my class: top set. I'm dumb, and she's smart. It must have been fate that put me in that class with her. The gods above knew from the start that we were meant to be. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one. She tossed her glossy, mousy brown hair back, and we locked eyes. Her deep brown eyes searching mine. It was only a brief moment, but it felt like time stopped. My heart melted. My legs almost gave way. She was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. She was always smiling, always happy. I needed her in my life. I needed her to inject her happiness into me. I went up to her, plucking up all the courage I had. I couldn't just stand there and watch her. That wasn't enough. I couldn't let a man take her. She was mine, and I needed her to know that.
