Love In December

the remembrance

It was a Sunday morning. I woke up at 10:15 am. Still so very sleepy, i snuggled in bed. The warmth of my big fluffy blanket as the cold winter breeze comes in through the window. I turned on my phone and browsed through Instagram and went through the tons of messages I have pending.

After 30 mins of snuggling in bed i finally stretched my body, grabbed my phone and made my way downstairs. As I came rushing down the stairs and entered the kitchen, I see my mom standing at the sink washing the dishes.

"Morning!" I say as i reach the cereal cabinet and start pouring me a bowl of cereal. "Morning sweetheart" she says in her low beautiful voice. "Oh Reezek was looking for you" she adds. I was astonished and confused. I started thinking to myself 'Reezek? Why would Reezek be looking for me?'

I quickly stopped what i was doing and turned around to look at her. "Reezek? Why would he be looking for me?" I asked. She looked at me confused and answered.

"I don't really know but he came by earlier and asked where you were, so I told him you were still sleeping as it was a Sunday morning" " so what did he say" i asked hesitantly.

"He was about to say something but then stopped as your brother Skyler walked in the living room. He knows the rest" she said.

Reezek was an old friend of my older brother Skyler. They've been friends for almost 3 years ever since my brother was in 9th grade. I liked him. I liked Reezek two years ago. So that's why i was so flustered and nervous when my mom said he was looking for me.

I quickly picked up my bowl of cereal and rushed to my brother. He was standing in the living room putting up the ornaments on the Christmas tree. He looked at me and said "Jades help me with the ornaments." I walked towards him and picked up an ornament from the box. As i was placing it on the tree i asked him.

"Why was Reezek looking for me?" I anticipated as he was about to answer my question.

"Ah he wanted to let you and me know that there's gonna be Carol singing on the 16th, 17th and 18th of this week." He said. " That's it?" I asked to be sure. "Yeah that's it." He replied.

Gosh I was relieved for an odd reason. I let out a sigh. "Why are you sighing?" Skyler asked. "Oh it's nothing don't worry about it hehe" I said nervously. "I'll be right back" i told Skyler and picked up my bowl of cereal and scooted outta there.

I went to sit out on the porch. As i sat down, there was only one thing on my mind.

"Will he be there?"
